How do you deal with the frustration when your posts don't get the recognition that they deserve?
In the Liotes Mission of today we would like to ask you a question by @shiftrox:
How do you deal with frustration about your posts, for example, when you spend a lot of time creating something nice, but unfortunately they don't get their money's worth, you create an expectation and it's not met, how do they deal with that? What do you do? How do you feel?

That is a very interesting question. And I think it is closely related to most of us.
I was very dissapointed during my earliest time when my work could not get much attention that I needed, that also one factor that makes me went inactive for quite a long time.
But now, I will be grateful for whatever I get, as long as there is no downvote, since there are people who don't get much attention as we do, also it is better than making a long post on other social media, where we only gets like, no nothing more.
It is about channeling our emotion to other positive thing. Yes it is human to feel dissaointed, but life must go on, and we keep on hiving. : )

It's difficult to understand at the beginning why nobody liked our posts. The problem I think is visibility. On hive, your posts weill only be seen if you have a certain network built up...

I can't really answer this because I don't post much. I did post a little in the beginning and I was definitely pleased when I got some comments and votes. If not, life goes on. :)
I think it's a good attitude to expect nothing and if there is some life on the posts, then even better :-)

Upvotes are never guaranteed. That was the premise when I joined and I accept it. I'm good with it as long as there aren't downvotes just because of "whale battles" between each other. Thankfully, I have not been on the receiving end of any such situations.
I remember a post I made and it hat 250 upvotes and 1 downvote... You can be sure that it's the 1 downvote that bothered me lol

The feeling is mixed I must say. You get to have both negative and positive feelings and at the same moment thinking you didn't give the right shot at it
That's a way of seeing it...
It is, right?

Amazing 😍
Hmm I am actually ok to be honest, even though it's always nice to get votes.
I think it's always good not to have expectation on votes because that's something not within my control. Rather, I prefer to focus on what I can control, which is to continue to post what I like, what I want to share, and interacting with people. Weirdly, sometimes posts which I didn't think will get high votes do surprise me as well. It sounds cliche, but I am here for the fun and learning, and upvotes are secondary and good to have.
That's a really good attitude for many things in life I believe :-)
Yeah that's so true!

Thanks!
I believe that we can not be successful every day. Ups and downs are part of life, which also applies to our posts. I prefer focusing more on the work and consistency because I have control over this and I have no control over the recognition that my posts get so better not to think much on this aspect. We must improve our work and focus as this is what that matters
Consistency is definitely a key factore for our success here on hive and is interaction and relationships.

Interesting question, good that someone asked, in some way or another it affects, demotivates and more when it becomes repetitive, you continue publishing, but you are not visible, it is brutal, it makes you question if you are doing well, even if you know that the votes are not guaranteed and although many say the rewards is the least, many like to see their publications rewarded, who does not?
How do I recover from not being visible? I keep trying, I leave it for a while, I try again, I have 2 years in hive, I don't know much, I keep looking for an answer, for the moment these last days I have been with more motivation, I will continue to publish the constancy and dedication will give me results, I hope not to die in the attempt.
See you later😘
What I think is key factor on hive is to realize that the "results" of a post are not linked to the quality of it. People tend not to see other posts in general. The only thing that really works is to build relationships, interact with people on their posts and then see how these relationships translate in higher post payouts over time. It's definitely a slow process :-)
Excellent answer, my doubts are dispelled, to establish good relationships give good results, it is good to know, thanks for commenting, with this you help me to be more assertive and it is true, the process is slow but infallible, I hope so.
Thank you👍

I enjoy posting on subjects that I'm interested in. Often I spend a lot of time writing but the objective is to share my thoughts and have fun doing it. Recognition and upvotes are certainly appreciated but better not expect so that you won't get disappointed. 😀
The less you expect, the easier it is to appreciate when you get some votes and some comments :-)

I'm immensely honored that my question has been chosen for today, thank you very much for this moment! I confess I was very happy. 😄
To answer the question, my way of dealing with frustration is to always try to imagine that anything can happen, whether for good or bad, sometimes we make a huge post with impeccable content, but it may be that no curator sees it or the reception is not the best, just as we also make simpler posts and incredibly they get a high value, I think this randomness is what calms me down, because I know that one day there will be a nice value or a lot of comments and engagement, so focusing on the work and always trying to improve is what I recommend.
Another interesting point is that I think that if I don't get a downvote that's great and that on web2, what I do there only gets likes and that here in the worst case I still get something, even if it's pennies. I really like to focus on the idea that if today didn't go well, tomorrow is a new day and a new opportunity to do something incredible, and then anything can happen!
Cheers! 👊
Thanks a lot for this great mission idea. It's nice to read the answers of people :-). You are right to point out that hive is full of posts and there are only few curators out there. It's possible that nobody sees our great post. The best way to get visibility is to build friendships and make sure that your friends have you in their feed :-)
It's an honor to have been chosen, from the bottom of my heart it's that kind of surprise that when you see it, you let out a super sincere smile of joy. 😁
Exactly at this point, engagement and organic interaction can make all the difference, because when you become a participatory member, people end up remembering you and paying better attention to the content you produce and this can certainly be a differentiator.

I usually do not expect much to avoid disappointments since we know that upvotes are not guaranteed. What matters is knowing that I did what I could so I'm always thankful for whatever comes 😊
If we can be thankful for each comment or upvote, we can almost not be disapointed :-)
That's right :-)

Thank you lots :-)
When we make a post, we expect to receive appropriate upvotes. But we can only try. If it does not meet my expectations, I accept the outcome.
But that is my assessment. I've noticed that the posting time can also have an effect. Posts are also routed to the appropriate community, ensuring that we receive appropriate responses.
Because good posts will be judged by the appropriate people if they are in the correct community.
The success of a post has to do a lot with it's visibility. We can create great stuff but maybe nobody sees it for time reason or simply because we chose the wrong tags or the wrong community. The best way is to build friendships and have your friends follow you on hive :-)
3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking
it will be a lie if people say they don't get upset or disappointment.
For me, I will adjust on which part that's wrong, or what's lacking, or what's overdoing on each time the expectation doesn't meet.
For example why people do not see it, why people do not like it, is it in the right community, or do I use wrong tagging, or wrong title and more stuffs like that. When everything is right, its just a game of number which means some will still fail.
I think for that cause if you compare me with my par, my posts rewards were above them. And for the same reason too you often see me get hunted by some OG. And that's the beginning of why I have chosen to do shitposting over serious posting, although the fact is that many of my shitposts are better than those "diamond" posts from people who are referred as the one who put more effort and deserve more than what I have got.
In the end people who stay here are hard core grinder
Trying to get better at what we are doing is the key to progress constantly. It's definitely a good attitude I believe.

When I was new at Hive, I experienced it quite often, sometimes rightly and sometimes definitely not. It led to me disappearing for some weeks or months, but every time I came back.
Nowadays, I don't have such expectations anymore. Or atleast not that high. I am already happy when I get $5 worth of upvotes for lenthy posts. Why are such rewards already fine for me? I am rather sure that one day Hive will climb in value to atleast $1, so a 3x from its current price. That would mean that the rewards I earn at the moment are worth $15 instead of $5, thus all good! :D
It's always good to have to big picture in mind and not concentrate on the small amounts that we earn.
I remember in 2014, I was claiming BTC from faucets. At the time I could get 1000 stoshis per claim which was around 0.001 cent. Today, this would be worth 0.51 $ per claim and I claimed probably 20 - 50 times per day. In hindsight, I made quite a nice amount of money then :-)
Slowly but steadily we'll get there! Once the bull is in full force, these pennies will have some decent value! :D

If your worst problem is that your post on the internet doesn't get as many upvotes as you thought it should, then you should realize that you are already living a better than average life. While I may feel some annoyance in the very short term if this happened, it's not really going to bother me all that much since I have had far worse issues to deal with.
That's definitely true :-)

The elephant in the room.
I do love how you guys ask the controversial questions .... even on your blogs and yes looking at you Zoltan🤣
Fact I joined Hive to blog for money or crypto more precisely. I blogging for BCH on readcash and many friends there were doing it here. So I followed in Sept 2021 and quit many times between then and Jan 2022 when I decided to stay for good.
I quit because of rewards, why were my posts being ignored when I saw utter garbage being rewarded with ridiculous amounts.
Then someone told me Hive is like life. And yes I got it, the rich get richer. I accepted that people who were here for many years will have autovotes on them so it does not matter what they post they will be rewarded.
Lesson 1 stop comparing your post with others.
Lesson 2 stop trying to figure out why your post A exceeded your post B in rewards.
Lesson 3 Sure it will piss you off if you think you don't get what you deserve, but look onthe bright side, whatever you get is yours, nobody can take your account!
Lesson 4 It gets easier in time.
It also changed what I post, I love to write stories, in fact on readcash I wrote alot.
Here writers are not rewarded. Put a post up of 10 pics and some naff words and you will generally get good rewards.
Spend ages crafting a short story and you get next to nothing in comparison. It is downheartening to say the least. And why you see me making some pretty picture posts as I know I can often manufacture some rewards.
Okay no griping so will stop.
I no longer get hung up and will continue to help people.
The whole rewards thing is the biggest problem with user retention.
Funnily enough I was speaking to someone today and she said alot of people were losing interest in Hive. That is worrying.
I am here to stay, and as I told her, where else can you earn crypto from nothing?
Great question!
thanks a lot for this great comment. I can really rely with what you say.
I have to agree with you on this. Especially when we market hive with how you can get 50$ on a post but then you get 0.05$ when you write one...
Jokes on the side... Someone has to ask... And it's good that we CAN ask...

pretty interesting question. i would say that this is something that most of us should accept in a way. The only thing that you need to do to get more upvotes and recognition is to level up your game in terms of quality and focus on interacting with others to become more well-known on the platform. You really need to spend time on the platform interacting with others. I have seen this happening to me. If for one month i interact with others and such then my rewards get doubled. If i am inactive for let's say less than a month i will get back to square 1!
The other way which is even harder is to create a project of your own that will reward all those quality users based solely on their posts, gather hp either by investing or from delegations and make hive a better place!
I believe you hit home here. Upvotes and appreciation are not related to the quality of the content but to the relationships that we have managed to build on chain!
3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking
I will try to be as much as honest and rational as I can for this question.
Many times I dedicated my writing a lot of good posts but it didn't get the reward proportional to it, it was my opinion but also from other people. Once a friend commented about a post that didn't get the reward that deserved and he even asked me to share it with him by DM every time I post. However, that is something that happens often, not only with me. Social media's nature and Hive also don't reward you only by quality. You need another extra spice called opportunity. Hive is a dump of articles so how your post can have attention, even if it deserves a Nobel Literature Prize? Difficult but there are some. When I say opportunity it is linked to the right place and the right time. A community that is getting a lot of spotlights makes it easier to get more attention for your post. Networking also is important in Hive.
So yeah the first feeling that comes to my mind is frustration of course, but I need to be rational and not give up, continue with an honest posting, and also be open to some community prompts that match a bit the topics that I like to write about.
Not long ago I found an author that publishes since steemit, an author that publishes similar topics that I like to read about, but only after 2 years of blockchain I read his posts. Hive is a world with tons of daily texts, and I will admit most of them are shitposting hehehe and it is easy to get lost in that. So I am not special to get my post under $1 and also I am not special if a post that I underrated got $20 and i didn't think that was worth that much. Maybe I could stop right here and write a post about it. lol
You are right. The rewards on posts are often not linked to the quality of the post but rather to the network that you have managed to build. The more friends you have, the better and as you said the community in which you are active plays a major role as well.
3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking
Often we spend hours producing a good post, but sometimes we get frustrated because we don't get comments and votes that match our work. But that's part of Hive, not every day is perfect, so the best thing to do is to focus on consistency and quality. More importantly, we need to engage with other users, otherwise we are doomed to failure.
That is very true. The interaction and the relationships are the key to success on hive.
3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking
If you're posting to get rewards, you're posting for the wrong reason. I've always viewed rewards as "gravy". I post what I want, when I want, and try to contribute to the overall community that is Hive and all of it's tribes. When it comes to "making money" on Hive, I consider my curation and monetary investment to be the important part. My posts are usually about things I enjoy talking about and/or something I want to share with the community. Whatever they receive for votes is a bonus in my view. If I was posting every day, curating every day, and trying to build a brand and a following, THEN I would care about how my posts were doing as far as rewards. But I'm just here enjoying the community and adding things when I have the time. I have zero expectations and don't expect that people are waiting with bated breath to vote on my latest post. I try to give what I can to the community and hopefully in the long run that will pay off with the price of Hive going much higher.
I think that is a very healthy way to look at things. Without expectations, no disapointments... If you are here for the community, then you can only enjoy the experience I believe :-)

Thanks for the curation!
I think it depends but I got used to it. Things that I consider important might not be the same to others. So I just move onwards. I think it was considered more as growing pains because it hurts to see one post do well then another not do as well. However, over the long run, consistency is key.
Together with consistency I would also say interaction and relationships. It's much easier to upvote somebody that you know than a stranger...

It's not a nice feeling. But, i keep doing posts.
So my rule is keep doing the posts regularly.
Also, posts done in the right community do get attention.
Not everyone sees your post/work in the same way, so upvotes will vary. Also, you sometimes get good upvotes where you least expect it.

I confess that at the beginning it had a big impact, I even thought about giving up hive, but over time I've adapted and I understand the whole ecosystem, I know that the vote isn't guaranteed, it's a simple mix of luck and work 😉, in short today when it happens I'm sad, but I know that I'll soon be rewarded 😄.
When we start on the hive journey, we don't realize that there is a very small correlation between the quality of what we post and the results that it generates. Once we understand that, it's much easier to go forward :-)
3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking
I've been here a long time, I'm used to it. I used to look at other posts and compare them with mine. Some were better, some were worse, but everyone got more. There are many reasons and it is not only the quality of the post that decides in this system.
But now I don't look at it anymore. Still, after seven years, I keep trying to publish at least one post a day, and something that makes sense and that I'm trying to improve.
But, as I once mentioned, there is a "slow learning curve". 😜
Interaction and commenting are also essential.
I think in the long term they are even more important than the quality of what we create. You can write the best post but without friends, nobody will actually see it...

I've been posting little lately due to focusing a lot on having a heavy exercise routine in addition to a lot of work, but this feeling exists and even though several people say: "ah but I don't care about money", we know that many would if the posts didn't pay nothing wouldn't be here, but I think that regardless of the amount I earn, just the fact that I learn or teach something to someone, it already makes a difference, it's an ant's work, which in the future will be left a legacy
I totally agree with that. Sharing knowledge is a very meaningful occupation I believe and it's great to be able to do that and earn some coins while doing it :-)

Sometimes, it's hard to control what happens to things that are out of our span of control. So might as well work on what we have, network, meet more people and grow accordingly. It will make you feel better than keep feeling frustrated
3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking
I might feel a bit disappointed, but I don't feel frustrated if a post does not get a big crypto reward, probably because I don't create posts with the expectation of a big reward; my focus is on whatever it is that I want to say, even if it is just as a record for myself. What do I do if a post doesn't attract ? Nothing different than before. I just had a look at my track record for the last year or so and my rewards range from something like $0.23 to just over $10. It all adds up. Life is practice.
