A sandy island in the middle of the river
Not all waters are the same. There are deep waters that hide uncertainty and we remain on the edge, indecisive about whether to jump into them. We have been looking at those waters for a long time... time passes. Should we jump into that adventure, which can be refreshing but also unclear at the same time? Should we dare to take that step and try to swim in it? Sometimes a little friendly push is enough to make a decision. However, I believe that the only friend who should push you is yourself, but then you run the risk of staying there on the shore forever.
On the other hand, there are waters that you know very well and for which a small boat, a sand island and your feet are enough to walk in them. Today we will do exactly that, walk in shallow water on a sand island in the middle of the Danube River. Perhaps the only danger is an insect, a horsefly that bit my leg that day. I think you remember that incident I mentioned here.
To get there we have to take a boat. From the marina, we passed by a shipwreck that I thought would be cool to capture, even though we almost left it behind. I had my phone somewhere on the bottom of my backpack.
We met other ships too, not just that shipwreck. This was a cargo ship, and later a passenger ship also passed by, much more beautiful, but I was busy filming my walk in the water so I don't have a picture of that ship.
This sandy island has become quite a popular site nowadays. People are coming with little boats to enjoy an afternoon on the river, the same as we do. I still remember those days, years ago, when we were almost the only people there; it was so calm then.
We set up a small fishing net between the boat and a pole stuck in the sand in the water. But we didn't get dinner from this activity, this was more just for fun and for feeling the fishing atmosphere.
The sun and the clouds were playing hide and seek. :)
So, we are getting to the walking part of this post. As always, I went barefoot across the island as that is the normal behaviour here. You see that also birds, dogs and other people do the same! The proof is the footprints in the sand:
The river carries branches and trees downstream. This is probably how this tree got here into the middle of this island - when the water level went down, the tree stayed.
You can see it in the video footage too how there are other little branches, grass and vegetation that the river brought here with itself. Also, you will notice the different colours of the sand. When it is darker it is still wet sand. The white sand is there where it is completely dry already.
This part (here I am walking in the water) is between the island and the forest. Here the water is shallow and calmer. We have to take care anyway as there are deeper parts in the water that come by surprise.

This river itself is quite tricky and deep, and fast, but there are parts where it is shallow - we still have to be careful :)
I think the type of sand in the river is submerging your feet.

What a great river you have shown. It's s really cool to enjoy the beach life in the middle of it 😎 ⛱️ Our river here ship wrecks are usually found a great distance away from the river. A few years ago they found one 1/2 mile away from the river. All due to damns making in much narrow than it was in the past.
This is the Danube, quite a long and important river in Europe. You had to come too so maybe we would catch a fish 😁

Does the sandy island in the middle of Danube show up every time or only when it's drought?
The island showed up a few years ago when the amount of sand brought here by the river grew to a level that even trees started to grow. Now, that part always stays, it is already higher than the river and protected from erosion by the tree roots. When the river level is lower, there is more "land" :)
I had not imagined that today I would take a barefoot walk in the poco profundas aguas of the Danube. 😁 That's life, it's full of surprises. 😅

Ajá - I wish you hadn't gone through that moment of pain... we are walking there again and now there are no horseflies, so enjoy everything else that is there that is so beautiful.

What a lovely walk. 🤗 Walking barefoot on the sand is so relaxing. We don't have a river here, but we do walk along the sandy beach by the sea.
I have a bad memory related to that. Once a friend pushed me into the pool with my clothes on. I laugh about it now, but at the time, it wasn’t so funny. Luckily, he asked if my watch was waterproof before pushing me in, so I didn’t stay mad for long. 😄
This part made me briefly imagine birds and dogs walking with shoes on. 😄
Even though a horsefly bite is a bad memory, experiencing such joyful moments in nature is worth it. I hope you catch lots of fish next time 😊
Oh, yes, I can imagine that push, it was maybe intended as fun by that friend but it is not a comfortable situation for the pushed one. In other life situations, we may need a bit of a friendly push not to miss out on things... but then again, it would not be our own step...
Hahaha, dogs and birds wearing shoes 😂 could be, when the sand is too hot then we would all need a protection for our feet :D

20 years ago, in Belgrade, on the Danube, next to the Great War Island, there was a sandbar (island) where we enjoyed the summer for several years. measuring 50x500m, it was ideal for swimming, playing football on the sand, sunbathing, so close to the city center, and like being on a deserted island. this sprud of yours reminded me of those years... now Belgrade's sandy island has become overgrown with vegetation and merged with a larger island...
It seems that the Danube likes to make such sandbars and convert them into islands later. Many years ago there was another naturally made sandy island in another place but it disappeared (or they took out the sand as the ships could not pass, I am not sure anymore how it disappeared)
Now we have this one 😃
Even if there is no island, salvation is next to the water in this heat (and this week, it does not let up, 36, 37...)

Today, during the day, we expect a cold weather, maybe even some rain 😃.

I felt like walking around for a while, but I am so distracted and I would be so distracted watching the scenery that I would probably fall into some deep place and my feathers would be floating haha ❤️
That is why I saw other birds' footprints in the sand - the birds should stay on the island and don't experiment with the shallow and deep parts of the river 😋
It really looks like a place to take some unusual photos and have a good time!... And to get stung by a horsefly, of course!... hehehe :)) Thanks for sharing @mipiano friend!!!!

Watching that video gave me a sense of peace.... you know I watched him eating a rice pudding, with sponge cakes underneath and dulce de leche on top.... that I made haha
While watching the video I was eating and reading, it brought me so much peace.... that island is beautiful and the fishing is relaxing.
And I went to look up where the island is.... beautiful!

It looks like fine golden sand...Maybe a barefoot walk in the afternoon is great there..I like the peaceful scenery too.
It was in HK the last time I walked in a sandbar.
There's also a beautiful sandbar there that's like connecting both sides, separating water. Unfortunately I never had a chance to visit it..
