Initially, Capella was more of a concept than a band and was still a faceless name at the time of their European and British hit Bauhaus (Push the Beat). As the concept sold well, Bortolotti joined forces with the best Italian DJs such as Mauro Picotto, Citadini or Carpella. The two figures represent a group formed by the singer Kelly Overett, born on March 19, 1972 in Ipswich, and the rapper Rodney Bishop, born on December 19, 1966 in Lambeth, England. U Got 2 Know is not performed by Kelly Overett (soloist).

Many studio singers are used (e.g. Jackie Rowe of Move It Up). The song U and Me uses a sample from Love Has Changed My Mind by Vicki Shepard, who has not yet been given a story to use. The title track, "U Got 2 Know", borrows vocal parts from Ralphie Rosario and Xaviera Gold's "You Used to Hold Me" and Siouxsie and the Banshee's "Happy Home" (also reprized here). .

A Cappella released their debut album U Got 2 Know on July 14, 1993. Their biggest a cappella hit was the 1993 hit U Got 2 Let the Music (a cover of Alphaville's Sounds Like a Melody). It reached number 2 in the UK charts. Followed by the success of Move Baby, which peaked at No. 7 on the US Dance/Game Music Singles Club, and T and Me, which peaked at No. 10 and No. 6. When U Got 2 Know Was Released Before in 1994, it reached tenth place.

A capella appears in numerous concerts, including four Dance Machine releases (three in 1994 and one in 1996). Near the end of production on the first album, the producers decided to secretly change the group's vocals, replacing Kelly Overett with Allison Jordan. Patrick Osborne replaces Rodney Bishop, but the latter is out of action and Bishop is soon replaced. And in 1995 a new song appeared: "Please show me the way." The second single, "I Need Your Love", was released shortly after and its promotion became evident with appearances on French television, especially on M6's Dance Machine.

Meanwhile, the band released their second album, War in the Sky, on April 23, 1996. The band also released the singles Turn It Up and Down, which were remixed for radio release and featured another remix by Todd Terry. He then released the single Be My Baby in 1997 along with six remixes. The group's other singles, including Angel and UR the Power of Love, were released without being included on the album.
