Forgotten Cards, Ants, and a Vendetta: The Ants Swarm Strikes Back!

Splinterlands is not... just another game! Splinterlands brought a revolution in blockchain gaming, seamlessly blending strategy with the perks of decentralization. The players truly own their in-game assets, and the battles are epic!

Did you enjoyed the first season of Survival Mode? For me was about strategy and success... but the showdown was slow and sad! Why? Because the Survival Mode in Splinterlands is the ultimate test of PvP prowess, where only the strongest endure.

Let me go deeper and ask you how much you enjoyed the Rebellion expansion, with Conflicts, new cards and new dynamics? However.. today we have a blast through the past and chat about those forgotten cards that deserve more attention!

This week's Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge is all about shining a spotlight on the underrated and underused cards! We focus on the hidden gems that often go unnoticed but have the potential to make a real impact in battles.

This challenge encouraged me to dig deep into my collection, experiment with overlooked cards, and showcase the strategic value in more creative ways. You say forgotten cards and I say ... the Forgotten One... a weapon forged for a war lost to memory or myth!

What's your approach for this engagement challenge? Whether it's an older card that has fallen out of favor or a niche card with untapped potential, now is your chance to give them the recognition they deserve. Share your insights, battle strategies, and success stories to help others see these cards in a new light!

Well... maybe it was click bait ... but today we gona forget about the Forgotten One once again! My secret cards with untapped potential are... ants! The tiny crawlers were a regular selection during many season, and I still use them when the battle-rules are aligned with my special tactic!

According to the lore, the Ant Miners are better skilled diggers than all other miners. Most believed that Kobolds are the most skilled miners in the land, thanks to their small stature, inherent bravery and ability to use tools.

However, the Kobolds have apparently dug too deep into the crust beneath the Molten Mountains. This has allowed an undiscovered race of Fire Ants to breach the surface. These Ants are each about the size of a man’s fist.

The Ant Miners carry tiny tools, which they use to enhance their already formidable digging skills. They always travel in packs and lines. This card costs only two mana and has the Scavenger ability, gaining one health point with every monster that dies on the battlefield.

According to the lore, the Antoid Platoon typically consists of five to seven Fire Ants, each approximately the size of a man's fist. They are the Ant's fighters, very good to tank in Little League battles.

They are well armored, wield shields and spears that provide a formidable defense and offense against the antoid's foes. Operating through a shared hive mind, the Antoid Platoon is employed to defend Ant Miners, other workers, the colony, and its queen.

The Shield ability makes them formidable tanks in small mana battles, and they can gain Scavenger if upgraded to level six.

Let's suit up, put the helmets on, and get ready for chainmail and massive shields. The Armored-Up battle-rule makes me go for the most extravagant tactics, and brings some less used monsters in the team. Flames and ants for a chaotic approach!

They say ants have no memory, but these Ant Miners sure remembered how to fight! As always, Tarsa is the best ant-keeper! She boosts the little creatures with both health and attack, making the miners dig deep into the opponent's armors!

Tarsa:🔥 +1 Melee Attack and +1 Health

⚔️ Legionnaire Alvar – OP melee with Void Armor
🐜 Ant Miners – Melee with Scavenger
🏹 Flamesmith – Ranged with Shatter
🔥 Djinn Inferni – Caster with Giant Killer
🔮 Djinn Apprentice – Caster

One quick glance, and I knew this battle would be tough! Extra armor, even more extra armor from the summoner, and twice repair armor? On top of that, a Serpent of Eld with Dodge and healing support? This was going to be a grind!

This was a fight about Armor Breakers and Serpent Slayers, and the bards are still singing about it! Legionnaire Alvar’s armor was gone by the end of the first round, but he was still standing strong. The Serpent of Eld, however, wasn’t so lucky—our Djinn Squad took it down fast!

The Deeplurker’s Feast! Alvar was alive… but only for half the second round before the Deeplurker turned him into a snack. Meanwhile, the Ant Miners thrived on the collateral damage, growing stronger. Five health wasn’t much, but it was still better than the Flying Squid, who was clinging to life with just one lonely HP.

image.png

Armor Repairs Activated and the squid survives! The Flying Squid refused to go down, thanks to armor repair and a well-timed heal from the Guardian. The Ant Miners weren’t strong enough to hold the line and had to make way for the third tank of the match!

Meanwhile, Djinn Inferni finally got his moment... one perfectly timed firebolt and BOOM! Fried squid was on the menu. From there, it was Flamesmith vs. Deeplurker, but only one could attack. Things looked grim… until the Djinn Squad stepped in.

image.png

The Swamp Spitter delivered the final blow to the Flamesmith, extinguishing his spark. Djinn Inferni, not one to let things slide, instantly avenged his fallen comrade by turning the Deeplurker into charcoal.

One last enemy stood in the way: a lonely, speckled frog. The battle wasn’t just about forgotten cards—it was about proving that even the smallest fighters can make the biggest impact. Ants may be small, but they’ll never be forgotten! Watch the full battle here!

One little speckled frog, Sat on a speckled log, Eating some most delicious bugs. Yum yum!
He jumped into the pool, Where it was nice and cool, Then there were no green speckled frogs. Glug glug!

image.png

You just stepped into an anthill my fren' and your leg is being invaded by fire ants! Let me show you a never forgotten battles of strategy and surprise, where little critters can go a long way!

The Little League battle-rule and a pointless 35 mana cap, since the maximum mana used can only be 30, made me go for Tarsa as the summoner and not one but to ants in the starting line-up!

**Tarsa: **🔥 +1 Health and +1 Melee Damage

🛡 Antoid Platoon – Tank with Shield
👊 Magma Troll – Melee with Reach
🐜 Ant Miners – Melee with Scavenger
🕵️ Serpentine Spy – Melee with Opportunity
🐍 Uraeus – Melee with Sneak
🏹 Scavo Firebolt – Ranged

image.png

I had to face an Obsidian-magically-infused Earth team—but with only two casters selected! Weird! The Serpentine Spy unleashed a furious attack, claiming the first victim, while a venomous bite from Uraeus added another to the list. The Antoid Platoon not only shielded the team but also took down the enemy's dino tank.

Just one round in, and the Ant Miners were already boosted to six health, while the opponent was left with only three monsters. Spoiler alert: this battle didn't even reach round three! Never forgotten, never underestimated.
