Horizen’s Next Chapter on Base Begins!
The community has overwhelmingly approved ZenIP 42406 Addendum, with 99.71% of votes in favour, and Horizen's new chapter on Base begins! This pivotal governance decision marks the beginning of Horizen's transition to Base, as an appchain optimized for privacy-preserving applications.
The move does not alter Horizen 2.0's mission and their goals and vision remain steadfast. Instead, the bold move will position Horizen within one of the fastest-growing blockchain ecosystems, unlocking unparalleled scalability.
Horizen's decision to migrate to Base is a strategic move aimed at enhancing ZEN's adoption and long-term value. This transition aligns Horizen with a rapidly expanding ecosystem, one with a robust developer support and heightened institutional trust.
Horizen is proud to be among the inaugural appchains on Base, Coinbase's Layer 2 network, pioneering the future of on-chain privacy at scale. By integrating with Base, Horizen is not merely joining a platform but is set to redefine the possibilities within the blockchain ecosystem.
As an appchain optimized for zero-knowledge applications and privacy, Horizen offers unparalleled scalability and privacy innovation powered by zero-knowledge technology. This integration ensures institutional-grade security and trust, addressing the growing demand for privacy-preserving solutions across various industries.
The rise of appchains enables Horizen to transcend traditional scalability limits by leveraging Ethereum's security combined with Base's high-performance execution.
This synergy results in ultra-low fees, massive scalability, and seamless integration of zero-knowledge proofs, positioning Horizen at the forefront of privacy-first applications and driving institutional adoption.
With over 100 appchains anticipated on Base by 2025, Horizen's early adoption ensures greater liquidity, enhanced interoperability, and a robust ecosystem for developers, users, and institutions alike.
This strategic move signifies Horizen's commitment to advancing privacy and scalability in the blockchain space. This is just the beginning of Horizen's journey in revolutionizing on-chain privacy and scalability.
The Horizen DAO conducted a pivotal election to fill three of its seven seats in the Special Council, reinforcing the commitment to decentralized governance. I was one of the nine candidates, and this experience made me feel appreciated.
The Special Council serves as the backbone of the Horizen ecosystem, providing oversight and ensuring the security of the DAO. The members are entrusted with maintaining the integrity of the platform, acting as stewards who focus on the safety and security of the entire ecosystem. They also hold the authority to convene emergency operational meetings in response to security threats affecting the DAO or any protocol involving the $ZEN token.
The election results, announced on February 24, 2025, welcomed Benjamin Charbit, Domenico Sodiomayor, and Johncarlo (Psyrax) as the newly elected members of the Special Council. Their expertise and dedication are expected to significantly contribute to Horizen's mission of fostering a secure and innovative blockchain environment.
This election underscores Horizen's dedication to robust governance and the continuous enhancement of its ecosystem, ensuring that it remains resilient and adaptive in the rapidly evolving blockchain landscape. My participation was honourable, receiving 8.17% of the votes!
