Plutus 205 Upgades - The Transition To Self-Custody Stacking

Plutus has introduced several key updates to enhance the utility and sustainability of its platform and the $PLU token. One of the most significant changes is the transition to self-custody stacking. Under this new system, PLU tokens earned within the Plutus app can still be redeemed for various utilities but will no longer contribute to Reward Level progression or Compounding Rewards Yield (CRY) unless they are transferred to a connected external wallet.

Once moved externally, these tokens will continue to count toward level progression and CRY earnings. This shift is designed to encourage self-custody, fostering a more sustainable ecosystem while mitigating speculative behavior. My in-app $PLU balance had to be transfered to the linked wallet to maintain perks and benefits.

In an effort to stabilize PLU’s value, Plutus has anchored both in-app redemption and emission values to a minimum of £10 per PLU, based on tangible in-app benefits. This strategic decision ensures that PLU rewards maintain a predictable and consistent minimum value for services such as PlutusMiles and PlutusTravel, regardless of external market fluctuations.

Further strengthening its commitment to transparency and long-term viability, Plutus has introduced platform enhancements that align PLU emissions with the £10 intrinsic value established by in-app utilities. This strategy is in line with Ernst & Young’s forecast of £7.90 per PLU in-app, with the ultimate goal of achieving full self-sustainability through the network fee system, FUEL.

By reinforcing a ‘FUD-proof’ model, Plutus seeks to create a more resilient economic structure for its ecosystem. To support this effort, Plutus also plans to open-source its financial model, allowing for public verification and fostering innovation within the industry.
