Hi all!

Welcome back to my #running blog where I keep you up to date with my training towards the NN Marathon Rotterdam 2025, which will here in less than 22 days!

I am basing my training plans on the book “Advanced marathoning” by Pete Pfitzinger and Scott Douglas. The book provides a great guide to all aspects with regards to getting ready for a fast(er) marathon. It provides both 12 aswell as 16 week schedules that are based on the number of miles/kilometers you want to run in a week.
As the name suggests “advanced”, the schedules are heavy. If you want to finish a marathon you will not need this book - but if you want to improve your PR this book is a treasure!

Last few marathons I ran the easiest program (which is already up to 55 miles / 89km a week), Now I made some adjustments to that program to add a little more kilometers but also spreading it more so I would need less time to recover.

I am currently in my third and last peak week before cutting back the weekly kilometers to +/- 65 - which I am honestly looking forward to! But for now still some work to do!

This week the planning is 90 km - which means that a half marathon tomorrow as my long run would be sufficient! But let’s see how the blisters are holding up tomorrow!

Today I did an easy recovery run, getting more and more familiar with the hotter temperature (which is important to do as most of the trainingsblock was during winter and Rotterdam is known for having temperatures well above 20C during the Marathon.) while the run was gentle I had a good time and am looking forward to finalizing the peak week tomorrow!!
