Battle Mage Secret - Time Meddler Is Too Strong To Be A Common Card!

The theme for the current "Battle Mage Secret" challenge is Broken Arrows ruleset this time! This means we cannot use Ranged cards. It's not always easy to get the specific ruleset, but if you play hard enough, you definitely can find one!

For this ruleset, it's not too difficult to manage because we will have a range of Melee and Magic cards to use. Of course, that depends what other rulesets it is paired with.

Anyway, I thought it would be still be interesting to introduce some useful cards and show how their strengths can be maximised especially with a particular ruleset. In this post, the featured card is a Riftwatcher card, Time Meddler.

It puzzles me that with such stats, why Time Meddler is a common card. When placed side by side with Djinn Renova, it cost 1 more mana but has 4 more armor. Both of them have one ability too.

Given the Chaos Legion’s superior strength and numbers, the Riftwatchers needed to find other advantages if they were to have any hope of one day standing against them. Thus, over the years, they developed runic devices and techno-magic to chronicle the Legion’s tactics and strategies.

One such device is the clockwork amulet.

Time Meddlers use this amulet to apply what they’ve learned of the Chaos Legion on the battlefield, briefly stepping outside the flow of time to dodge an enemy’s attack or strike back against them.

It is an Earthquake battle so Brighton Bloom is the top pick here because he gives every card the Flying ability!

I decided to go with a Life Magic lineup so Time Meddler is one of the top pick for the tank given its Dodge ability. Its armor also will come in handy if there are Melee attacks from the opposing team. As mentioned earlier, these stats are way better than a typical Common card (in my view).

Djinn Renova is one of the most versatile Life cards and her presence always provides a massive boost to the entire team thanks to Strengthen. She slots in as the secondary tank as I don't have much mana left for the backline.

Pelacor Conjurer is intentionally placed in the 3rd position to take advantage of Weapons Training in the adjacent card. Assuming the two front cards can hold the frontline, his damage will be crucial.

Aves Sturgis deploys Weapons Training to both adjacent cards and hiding from Opportunity hits will be very important this time.

Was I desperate for mana? Yes! This was one of the first time that I used Kra'ar Xoc and it is definitely very suitable for this occasion.

With the last mana left, it went to another filler card and hopefully the Slow ability will give a slight disadvantage to the opposing team.

• Pre Battle: The lineup was extremely lopsided, with my Level 1 team facing a Level 4 summoner. Because of the level of my Brighton Bloom, all 3 Gold Foil cards were suppressed to Level 1 stats. With 3 Legendary cards on the opposing team, let's see how this battle would turn out.
  

• Round 1: It was trouble right from the start as my opponent's tank had Magic Reflect. My entire team of Magic lineup suffer minor damage as a result. And my opponent had an Opportunity card and Aves Sturgis was hunted down.
  

• Round 2: The Weapons Training began to show its effect this round, and coupled with Earthquake, my opponent was down to 3 cards. Whereas Time Meddler held it together and was standing strong!
  

• Round 3: And before I knew it, my Level 1 somewhat turned this into a landslide win! My whole team was still around. And look, Kra'ac Xoc was up to 6 HP with the Scavenger ability!
  

• Round 4: Wow how unbelievable is this?

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? Brighton Bloom definitely was the MVP in this battle by keeping entire team Flying. Never mind that it was just Level 1. What was amazing was how strong Time Meddler was as the tank, and how powerful Weapons Training was, and a very high level team didn't trouble my team much at all.

What's the Battle Mage Secret? Time Meddler is a very underrated Common card.
