Battle Mage Secrets - Kelya Frendul Clashes With Possibilus The Wise
The theme for the current "Battle Mage Secret" challenge is Up to Eleven ruleset this time! This means all units have the Amplify ability. It's not always easy to get the specific ruleset, but if you play hard enough, you definitely can find one! This time I was lucky enough to have one - woohoo!
So here's the interesting battle that I encountered.
Anyway, I thought it would be still be interesting to introduce some useful cards and show how their strengths can be maximised especially with a particular ruleset. In this post, the featured card is one of the older cards, Water Elemental!
Water Elemental is one of the cards that I received from winning a contest on Hive and it has featured in my Water lineups very often. It is a very trusty partner with Axemaster, and their high speed meant these two cards could quickly deal 6 damage at the very start of each battle. This meant clearing away the opponent's tank or at least its armor. Its Self Heal is very important is very valuable especially in Poison or Earthquake battles where it heals itself back each round.
No doubt there has been newer cards such as Swamp Spitter in the mix among the Water Ranged cards but Water Elemental still excels in selected rulesets and is a good-to-have card in any card collection.
As usual, here's the lore for Water Elemental for your reading interest:
The more skilled summoners of ΛZMΛRÉ can summon water in its Elemental form. After the Water Elemental completes its summoned duty, it simply goes free. Most of them recede into the deeper reaches of the Dark Water, joining the Elemental Hordes of the Deep.
Battle Type & Team Lineup
Position | Card/Level | Mana |
---|---|---|
Summoner | Kelya Frendul | 4 |
Kelya Frendul is my go to summoner for my Water lineups for most of the battles because the armor and speed boosts are applicable to any kind of lineup.
Position | Card/Level | Mana |
---|---|---|
1 | Sea Monster | 8 |
Sea Monster is one my most reliable tanks because its Self Heal ability makes it very strong.
Position | Card/Level | Mana |
---|---|---|
2 | Tide Biter | 3 |
Mana is not a luxury here so I would go Tide Biter, who is a great secondary Melee fighter behind Sea Monster.
Position | Card/Level | Mana |
---|---|---|
3 | Nerissa Tridawn | 9 |
Nerissa Tridawn is one of the strongest cards without abilities for Water and it's simple to use so she gets the pick ahead of Djinn Oshannus.
Position | Card/Level | Mana |
---|---|---|
4 | Riverboat Captain | 6 |
Riverboat Captain is one of the strongest Soulbound Reward cards for Water because of his Blast ability, making it able to deal 3 or even 4 damage per round.
Position | Card/Level | Mana |
---|---|---|
5 | Axemaster | 7 |
Axemaster is always my trusted card for damage output. A very reliable card with Double Strike, coupled with high speed and a good amount of HP.
Position | Card/Level | Mana |
---|---|---|
6 | Water Elemental | 5 |
Water Elemental used to be very popular because it has seen lesser appearances these days with similar cards in the newer series. Still, it has a Self Heal ability which can be very important in fending off Sneak attacks.
- Pre Battle: When the lineups showed up, I was a little apprehensive when I saw my opponent use Possibilus the Wise. Possibilus the Wise is never an easy summoner to play against because its stats pack a lot of strong attributes and abilities. And my opponent's tank is just too solid. But let's see what happens.
- Round 1: My cards all teamed up to hit at my opponent's tank and managed to bring it down, only for Resurrect to revive it again. Fortunately, my team held steady and was able to survive the first round.
- Round 2: A lot of things happened in this round. With Trample from their summoner, my opponent was able to deal a huge amount of damage with Coastal Sentry and all in all, two cards were down from my team. It was a race against time, and my strong damage output also brought down two cards from the opposite side too.
- Round 3: The race against time continued as both sides lost cards in this round. It was getting nervy because my last two cards were Ranged attacks and they won't be able to hit from the tank position. Fortunately, Nerissa Tridawn bought a lot of time for the backline.
- Round 4: My team had a lot of speed, thanks to Kelya Frendul, and went first in this round, effectively securing this win! Amazing victory there!
- Round 5: And we were done!

Post Battle
Did my strategy work? Definitely. Contrary to what happened in the battle, my opponent's lineup was very tough - a Legendary summoner, with big hitters to take advantage of Reach and Trample, and they even had Resurrection. Whereas my team didn't even have a single Legendary card, but relied on accuracy, speed and damage output to overcome my opponent. Each card played to their strength, and Axemaster tirelessly pounded all 10 hits across the 5 rounds to make sure I won the race against time.
What's the Battle Mage Secret? You don't always need a Legendary summoner to win! Hehe!
So that's all I have! What are your takeaways from this battle? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!
As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!
