Battle Mage Secrets - Think Twice Before You Use Conqueror Jacek

The theme for the current "Battle Mage Secret" challenge is Heavy Hitters ruleset this time! This means all units gain the Knock Out ability. It's not always easy to get the specific ruleset, but if you play hard enough, you definitely can find one! This time I was lucky enough to have one - woohoo!

So here's the interesting battle that I encountered.

Anyway, I thought it would be still be interesting to introduce some useful cards and show how their strengths can be maximised especially with a particular ruleset. In this post, the featured card is a familiar Life Epic card, Djinn Renova!

Djinn Renova is an awesome team player with Strengthen ability, which effectively means she has 7 HP to begin each battle and deals 2 Magic attack. In my view, these stats are good enough for an Epic card.

As usual, here's the lore for Djinn Renova for your reading interest:

Dawn of the Djinn 2 of 4 - Once the fifth mana gate was unlocked, the Planet knew that Mount Praetorus in the Splinterlands must be protected. The sixth and final mana gate was now all that prevented the dreaded Chaos Legion from conquering the world. The Planet had some tricks up its sleeve and plenty of magic of its own, so it took action. Calling to each of the trapped Belludae souls throughout the world, the Planet extended them an offer of freedom. None of them refused the offer.

The Planet used its delicate but powerful forces to destroy each enchanted vessel that contained the trapped Belludae souls. Then as they were going free, the Planet ensnared each of them into a new type of confinement. They were each trapped by one of the magical elements, unable to change physical forms or leave the territory of their element. With each of the Belludae a deal was struck. They would henceforth be called Djinn, and their service would be complete once the Planet was free of destruction at the hands of the Chaos Legion.

For this battle, I have opted to use a Life Magic team and Delwyn Dragonscale is always a great boost.

Venari Marksrat is chosen to take the tank to tempt the Martyr boost for its adjacent card, which is also the featured card for this post!

Not Djinn Oshannus but Djinn Renova! With the +1 Magic attack boost from the summoner and likely another Martyr boost, Djinn Renova potentially packs a 4 Magic attack, which is extremely strong.

3	Pelacor Conjurer	2

Pelacor Conjurer is a great 2 mana card to play and it is strategically placed to receive Weapons Training. Its stats make it extremely hard to hit and I have lost battles when opponents use this card.

4	Aves Sturgis	6

Aves Sturgis combines very well with Delwyn Dragonscale with Weapons Training and +1 Magic attack because this benefits all 3 cards at one go!

5	Kra'ar Xoc	1

Kra'ar Xoc is an extremely strong card for 1 mana. It is in a league of its own because with Scavenge, the sky is the limit for its HP.

6	Sola Ranjell	3

Sola Ranjell is a Legendary Gladius card, and with just 3 mana, she does Magic damage and have healing abilities. An overpowered Venari Crystalsmith I would say.

• Pre Battle: Facing Legendary Summoners are never easy, and what's more, my cards are of a lower level. But let's see how my carefully thought out strategy would fair.
  

• Round 1: This was proving to be a uphill battle because my Life Magic team was fighting an opposing tank with Void. Fortunately, I had the boost from Delwyn Dragonscale, otherwise I would be hitting zeros. Somehow, all cards remained intact and Venari Marksrat held on.
  

• Round 2: Finally Venari Marksrat went down, and Djinn Renova got the 4 Magic attack! Things were looking better for me after their tank went down too. It seemed that the Scattershot ability was doing more harm than good for my opponent.
  

• Round 3: My opponent's Scattershot hits continued to do more harm as they could take down my Djinn Renova tank. Kra'ar Xoc was enjoying himself with all the Scavenge boosts and was already up to 5 HP.
  

• Round 4: Djinn Renova was taking down their cards one by one and we were almost there!
  

• Round 5: And our strategy paid off! An unexpected easy win against a higher level team and a Legendary summoner.

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? Definitely, the opponents are getting tougher these days. Even in Silver leagues, using Level 2 summoners are already the minority, and in this case, I am using a Level 1 summoner! Hence, strategising is become more and more important to outwit these high level summoners and I am glad that this Life Magic combination paid off once more!
