Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - We Are Sinking?

Time flies! Just completed the 79th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Staying In Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I decided to stick to what I fought in the last fray, which was Fray 6, which was 3/2/2/1. I felt I was starting to find my grove and this fray is neither too difficult nor too easy for me.

Had 7 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

  • We Got 5th

So for the final result, we were 5th out of 9 guilds and got 538 Merits and around 7 SPS! Horrible result in my view. Firstly, we were let down by number of players participating. More than half of the guilds at 80 fights where we only had 55 fights. Just based on number of fights alone, we would have been ranked 8th.

But I thought maybe if we fought well, like we always do, we might still stand a chance. And then we were let down by players who didn't submit their teams AGAIN. 13 missed fights out of 55, which meant we were only able to get the best out of the remaining 42 fights.

Kudos to those who fought - we managed to win 33 out of 42 which was amazing.

Individually, I had 7 fights this time and I won 6 of them this time! Finished 3rd within the guild.

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Relenor Cleaver

An Earthquake and Poison battle meant the strategy was to outlast my opponent. Packed my team with the strongest HP and of course, Almo Cambio guaranteed the team a victory while everyone succumbed to the fumes.

Battle 2 - DRAW

Gladius Card Used: None

12 mana battles always throw up surprises because it's hard to predict what the opponent will put out. I went with Harklaw which would be very strong with Thorns, but unfortunately, the opposing Life Sapper was tough to handle and both cards went down together, resulting into an interesting draw. Thought both teams deserved some credit for the creativity of the selection.

Battle 3 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

An Earthquake battle and I packed my team with Flying cards. Lots of impressive performances, starting from Venari Marksrat boosting the Martyr ability twice, Lira The Dark netting all the Flying cards and Astral Entity pulling all the strings behind the scenes. Thought Venari Marksrat should take this MVP for wasting a lot of time on the opponent's end.

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Orella Abadon

This was such a close and tense battle! Both teams came out with the same tank, same Gladius card, and it was too close to call at times. Fortunately, Dhampir Infiltrator's Double Strike proved critical by wiping out the backline faster than they could do to mine. Well deserved MVP, and a rare one too!

Battle 5 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Trapp Falloway

Both teams used tanks with Shield along with Disintegrator. However, my strategy came out tops, with Drybone Raider striking 4 times each time, and Ever-Hungry Skull soaking up all the Opportunity attacks. 6 cards remained standing at the end. Comprehensive win!

Battle 6 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

You cannot NOT bring Forgotten One for Poison battles. Full stop. My opponent had all the higher levelled cards but there were of no use against the fumes. Was expecting a draw but got an easy win here. :)

Battle 7 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Relenor Cleaver

A vanilla battle with no restrictions and a luxury of mana too. My Water lineups never disappointed and it was the same case in this battle. Routine lineup, routine win.

So that sums up my 7 battles for this brawl! 86% win rate, but honestly, it didn't matter because as a team, the performance was disappointing.
