HoloZing - A Quick Update On My ZING Holdings And More!

We are about 9 months into the claimdrop of ZING! How's everyone doing?

The price of ZING hasn't been going too well, but I am still around! As someone who holds ZING, from both buying/trading as well as HP delegation to @zingtoken, it's important that we continue to do due diligence on this project.

For the record, you can see that I am currently holding about 4,089 ZING, with majority of it staked. Since the last update, the APRs have come down slightly from 16% APR for staking to 14% and 13% APR for HP delegation to 10%. Even without the staking, the 10% APR for HP delegation is still considered comparable to most HP delegation projects on Hive.

So what's the reason behind this?

For avid followers of the @holozing project, one would have noticed the frequent updates about the progress of the game development has slowed down significantly. There used to be frequent updates and contests as well, but the last update from the official HoloZing account was 17 days ago. And going further back, we see another update in May.

6 months ago, I remember that there was still a lot of hype going on, with a lot of discussion about new creatures, new healers, items, and everyone was chipping in their ideas in the various contests. Now it's pretty quiet, and I hardly hear people mention it these days.

But hold on, there's a background story to this! @acidyo has written an extensive update on this in this post. And it's always nice to hear some updates on the happenings. Personally, I am happy to accumulate ZING at my own pace and be patient about these Hive projects because as an adult myself, I do understand that things can happen in real life and the more important stuff take priority.

Nonetheless, it's still inevitable that the lack of updates have resulted in a lot of ZING holders, either selling down their ZING, or paring down their ZING holdings at least.

As for myself, I have separated my holdings in two separate slices.

Delegation

For the delegation slice, I have delegated 100 HP to @zingtoken all the way since the claimdrop started on 21 Oct. From HP delegation and staking ZING, I have obtained a total of about 1,996 ZING, of which, I have sold 1,100 ZING at around 0.0099 Hive on average. Hence, I am left with about 896 ZING.

So let's put them into a table and see how the figures look like.

ReturnsZINGPrice in HiveValue in Hive
Realised1,1000.009910.92
Unrealised8960.00292.60
Total1,99613.52

On a base of 100 HP, that's about 13.5% ROI over about 9 months. If we were to annualise this figure, which isn't that meaningful (but purely for the purpose of generating an APR number), that's 18% APR.

Of course, the numbers will fluctuate wildly, especially with the steady increase in the HP delegation to @zingtoken.

Trading/Holding

For the trading slice, I have currently about 3,000+ ZING, with 2,000+ ZING staked to get the staking APR and 1,000 ZING currently in liquid for flexibility. The cost of this trading slice came up about to about 42 Hive, and based on the last price, they are worth about 9 Hive. (Ouch!)

What's next for me?

I think the crypto ecosystem, even in the Hive ecosystem, is very competitive. Lots of opportunities appear every now and then, and people often jump from one project to next, so the lack of updates has really hurt the price of ZING. Personally, I don't think it's much of a concern for me, I will still looking for opportunities to buy (low) and sell (high), and at the same time, keep some ZING for the eventual launch of the HoloZing game, whenever it will be.

The price of ZING is something that I would watch very closely. As for the game development, I have already done my favourites/follows so I will continue to read them as they come.

So back to the question of the post, is it time to buy or sell ZING? You have to decide for yourself. Haha!

Before I end, of course, I should always reiterate that this is not financial advice. This is just my personal viewpoint and one should ALWAYS do your own due diligence for anything you want to put your money in.

Finally, if you are interested to keep tabs on HoloZing, don't forget to follow the HoloZing Community on Hive, or HoloZing on X/Twitter. Otherwise, I will continue to post occasional updates when I have thoughts to share. Thanks for reading! :)

For me it was time to buy and I bought a bunch. I'm pretty excited about being around when the game is first released and just want to support it!
