HoloZing - ZING Is Up 56% Year To Date!

We are about 3 months into the claimdrop of ZING! How's everyone doing?

Did you know the price of ZING has been on the rise recently? In fact, it has gone up from 0.01341 Hive as of end 2023 to 0.02089 Hive at the time of writing! That's a 56% increase in just 22 days into the brand new year 2024!

Before you guys go all FOMO into ZING, let me share my personal view of the price movement.

As we all know, for almost all the new tokens that are launched, it always opens at a high price because there is a lack of supply and the APR is extremely high. ZING was no different. It traded between 0.10 to 5 Hive on the first day.

Then the FOMO tapered off. Well the chart doesn't do a good job in reflecting the gradual price decline (due to the scaling), but it went to about 0.043 Hive after 1 month and then to 0.015 Hive after 2 months.

One would have thought that the price will continue its decline but this wasn't the case! I think the low was around 0.012 in mid December and from then on, the price has staged an amazing recovery all the way to where it is now!

So what's the reason behind this?

For avid followers of the @holozing project, one would notice the frequent updates about the progress of the game development and much more! 3 months ago, there wasn't much about the game except the concept/idea. Now, I think we are seeing much more, new creatures, new healers, items, and the fun part about it I feel is that everyone get to chip in their ideas in the various contests and it's much more interactive!

There you have it, I think the updates and the tangible work and progress in the game development has shown much promise and impressed enough Hive users to hold on to their ZING or even buy more in preparation of the launch!

In fact, even after 3 months, HP delegation and ZING staking are still clocking in at 33% and 35% APRs! Reading some of the posts in the community, there are people who reasoned that these rates are "too high" to be true considering that the usual delegation APRs for HP yields about 10% APR.

So what this means is that, by delegating HP to @zingtoken, and then unstaking and selling your ZING, you earn 3 times as much as you would have if you manually curate posts or if you delegate to some of the Hive project where they give you other tokens in return. It's as though, there is some form of arbitrage here, but I guess markets are just not as predictable.

As for myself, I have delegated 100 HP to @zingtoken all the way since the claimdrop started on 21 Oct. From HP delegation and staking ZING, I have obtained a total of about 720 ZING, of which, I have sold 255 ZING at around 0.018 Hive on average. Hence, I am left with about 465 ZING.

So let's put them into a table and see how the figures look like.

On a base of 100 HP, that's about 14% ROI over 3 months. If we were to annualise this figure, which isn't that meaningful (but purely for the purpose of generating an APR number), that's 56% APR.

Of course, the numbers will fluctuate wildly, especially with the steady increase in the HP delegation to @zingtoken.

What's next for me?

I think the price of ZING is something that I would watch very closely, especially for trading opportunities or even just to buy and hold ZING. As for the game development, I have already done my favourites/follows so I will continue to read them as they come.
