Neon Strike - A New Leaderboard Is Up!

It has been about a month since I updated on my progress in Neon Strike. You can read about my earlier posts:

As always, it's good to review and take stock of projects that I am involved once in a while and a monthly frequency seems to be a good timeframe. Of course, before I begin, special thanks to @jim-crypto and @taradraz1 for making this post possible, because without them, I wouldn't have a chance to try out Neon Strike, which I believe is currently in the Alpha phase.

Before we go into the discussion of the game, there's more news for @midnight-studio! The 3rd section, which is the Leaderboard, has launched!

And so I went to take a look! I am currently 26th! Not too bad for someone who has logged in almost everyday to complete the missions with my 2 NFTs. It's nice to see new things pop up every now and then, while the development of the game not as fast as some games, they do have a working product in place and the progress is slow and steady.

Alright, let's get back to my personal journey in the game itself!

To recap, I was given a complimentary NFT to try out this game, I have been playing this almost everyday! And after a few weeks, here's my early review. Initially, I think this was going to be a complicated game that required a lot of thinking (think Splinterlands) but I quickly realised that it's a very chill game. With my sole NFT, most of the effort can be done with a few clicks.

My Journey So Far

The 1st month saw me being restricted to doing Mission 1 because it's the only mission that is complimentary and the rest of the missions cost NEON tokens to unlock, but they give better rewards. Each mission takes 8 hours, and the NEON token rewards depend on the mission and the NFT Power. At the start, I was getting 19 NEON tokens each mission, and it slowly increased when my NFT levelled up.

The 2nd month was better because I managed to save up 700 NEON tokens to purchase Mission 2. This reinvestment allowed me to earn experience reward faster, level my NFT faster, which in turn generates more NEON token rewards.

The 3rd month, I reaped the benefits from my efforts in my first two months and it was fun to see the rate at which I was earning NEON tokens because my NFT was up to Level 6. During this period, I also noticed there were improvements to the game, major ones such as the Shop, minor ones such as the timer countdown in the missions, which were good for the user experience. So thumbs up to the team.

The 4th month, the grinding continued. My first NFT Kyle was up to Level 9 and I made my first purchase in the NFT market, buying a Legendary NFT at 25 SWAP.Hive, so that I will be earning NEON tokens at a faster rate.

The 5th month, it was more of a consolidation for me. I was focused on grinding my current 2 NFTs, especially my new Legendary! As of today, my first NFT Kyle is up to Level 10 and Centinel has climbed one level to Level 2. Because I had two NFTs, the accumulation of NEON tokens were faster and I was on my way to "recouping" the Hive spent on the Legendary NFT.

The 6th month, with 2 higher levelled NFTs, my grinding was more effective and it was really a smooth month. Now, my two NFTs, Kyle and Centinel are up to Level 13 and Level 5 now. With my current rate of NEON generation, I am in a good position to expand on my Mission set or getting a 3rd NFT if the price is right. Let's see if there will be any opportunities in the coming month.

Click To Earn?

So the question is, how much can one earn through this click to earn game? Let's look at the current prices on Tribaldex. Not much changes to the price of NEON since the last update, which is good actually, especially since Hive has increased substantially.One month ago, 100 NEON was trading at 0.41 to 0.60 Hive. Today, the same 100 NEON is trading at 0.35 to 0.58 Hive.

After about 6 months of playing, I have earned about 8,000 NEON tokens, of which 700 NEON tokens went into the purchase of Mission 2, to collect NEON at a faster rate in the future. That's about 7,300 NEON tokens left. I have converted most of them into SWAP.HIVE.

For record purposes, I have accumulated about 35 Hive from the divestment of NEON tokens, which is already above the cost of 25 Hive for the Legendary NFT. Woohoo! Finally! In addition, these NFTs do have their values if I were to sell them on the market next time. :P

As you could probably see, this is not a get rich quick game (no games are like that), but the little NEON tokens stack up over time and it gives me flexibility to do things on Hive, be it buying missions in the game, or even converting and powering up my Hive Power. And I like that as the level of the NFT goes up, the rate of earning NEON is much faster too!

With that, I hope that gives a rough idea of how the game works, and what to expect from a returns perspective. That said, am still pretty new to this game so I am still learning and exploring. Do note that the game is still in Alpha phase so perhaps more stuff will appear too. Will share more if I find anything interesting later on. If you have any tips, let me know too!
