Share Your Battle - Pairing Iziar With Two Healers!

Share Your Battle series are finally back! I hope this theme can stay for a few more weeks because it's more fun to write about battles!

So here's the interesting battle that I encountered.

Anyway, I thought it would be still be interesting to introduce some useful cards and show how their strengths can be maximised especially with a particular ruleset. In this post, the featured card is a Soulbound card, Iziar!

Iziar is a very strong card - no surprise it's of Legendary rarity. Having Void and Taunt is extremely helpful in facing Magic lineups. The best part of Iziar being a Life card is that Life element has many strong healers. Over time, I learnt that with such a high HP, when paired with two healers, she is almost invincible because the amount of healing is just too much for opponents to handle.

As usual, here's the lore for Iziar for your reading interest:

Iziar is the last of the Blesog, a faction of storm giants that hail from the peaks of the Agniavas. It has been a decade since her beloved fell, stricken by time, and now his bones lie beneath the cold, crystalline ground of one of the range’s tallest peaks. But before he passed on, he left Iziar with a gift, the seed of new life. She holds this keepsake deep inside her, teaching and preparing her unborn children for the day when she passes on and they must find their own way in the world.

Iziar remains isolated within the mountains, and few have laid eyes upon her. She spends most days toying with the elements, mixing combinations of the ruinous powers of nature and delighting in their raw elemental displays. It is said that nobody can throw lightning quite like a storm giant, and the swirling tornadoes they conjure with a simple twirl of their finger can level a city.

It is written in the prophecies of the Blesog that should the life of the land ever be threatened, then the storm giants will leave their peaks above the clouds and descend into the highlands and lowlands, bringing the raw, elemental power of the tempests with them… and woe to those who stand in their way.

With my favourite Water and Death elements out of the selection, I had to rely on my relatively weaker elements, and I decided to go with Life and incorporate one Gladius card to help me out. Hence, have opted to go with Franz Ruffmane.

With Earth elements in the selection, there's always a risk of facing Obsidian-led Magic lineup, so Iziar comes in very handy with Void, as well as Taunt. This ensures all the hits go to her and the backline can focus on supporting her.

Djinn Renova is an all round Epic card, with Strengthen ability, and it boosts the entire team's HP. She also forms part of my strategy to further boost Iziar's HP as the tank.

3	Sola Ranjell	3

Sola Ranjell is my only Legendary Gladius card - even after playing more than 100 brawls and opening more than 50 Gladius cases. She is exceptionally strong in both attack and as a healer as well. Her role here is both to deal damage and try to get Bloodlust, as well as to heal the tank.

Life has many good healers and Venari Crystalsmith is one of them too. This makes it two healers supporting the tank Iziar, which has Void and Taunt abilities.

• Pre Battle: When the lineups showed up, it was not a surprise of course. There's the Obsidian-led Magic lineup and hopefully Iziar's Void and two healers will be enough. Let's see.
  

• Round 1: With 3 healers on the board, both sides failed to make any progress in the first round. My opponent had a Level 3 Goblin Psychic, which was very strong.
  

• Round 2: My damage output wasn't that strong because it was a relatively defensive lineup. Nonetheless, I was healing my tank at 8 HP per turn (4 HP each from the healers) and there was really no way my opponent could get through.
  

• Round 3: Breakthrough!!! We took down the opponent's tank while Iziar continued to stand very firm because his high HP and two healers.
  

• Round 4: My lineup remained fresh as it was a matter of time my opponent's lineup would give away. 4 cards left.
  

• Round 5: Apparently, my opponent had further tricks up his sleeve with Martyr cards in the backline. That made the opposing Regal Peryton tough to handle.
  

• Rounds 6-7: And we were done! My lineup still as fresh as could be!

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? I think my strategy was spot-on from start to finish. I predicted facing a Obsidian-led Magic lineup and it turned out to be right, with some luck. I positioned a tank with Void, along with two healers, and that was more than enough to stop my opponent. Credit to my opponent, he didn't have an easy lineup, with a high level healer, along with two Martyr cards. There were lots of wild cards and dangers in the setup but I thought I had enough to pull through.

Pairing Iziar with two healers is one of the trump strategies up my sleeve and I hope you find it interesting too!
