Walking To A Better 2023 - Addicted To Acai Bowls

To improve my fitness, I had previously set a goal to clock an average of 8,000 steps on a daily basis for 2023. To put the numbers in perspective, my average step count for 2022 was about 4,656 steps.

It has now been five months into the year and I thought I would share my progress and reflect on my journey thus far.


The Numbers

May was an average month and I managed to clock an average of 6,425 steps daily, which wasn't far from my 2023 year to date average. As a result, the overall average remained pretty much the same, dipping slightly from 6,606 to 6,526 steps currently. That said, it is still way short of the 8,000 steps target.

To be honest, it was a pretty routine month for me - I did spend some time exercising even though my schedules were busy, but I also didn't push myself much to increase my step count as well. All in all, it was an okay month I would say, but definitely room for improvement. I shall try to push myself in June to see if I can go higher.

Enjoying My Acai Bowls!

I would share bits about my life along this journey of Walking To A Better 2023, and this month is no different.

In this month, I would like to share my newly found addiction to acai bowls! As part of health and fitness, I think exercise is just one part and of course diet is another. Recently, I was more conscious of my food choices and I actually chanced upon this new thing called acai bowls!

A quick look on Google, and you will see that acai has a long list of benefits. I will leave just this screenshot here as a reference/summary. I was pleasantly surprised as I haven't tried them before because it's not widely available I would say.

Anyway, here are some photos of the acai bowls that I had! While the acai itself can quite plain on its own, I liked that the stalls would include various combinations and fruits, nuts, and even chia seeds into the bowls to make it healthier and more nutritional! Furthermore, I think the placing of the fruits are actually very neat and pretty, which makes it very appetising for me as well. Lol!

Because I could try out different fruits along with the acai base, and along with the health benefits of acai and fruits (as we all know), and it's delicious too, I found myself having a bowl a few times a week. The only slight downside is that they are a little pricier at SGD 10 (which is around USD 7.50) compared to my usual meal costs, but for good health and the richness of vitamins and antioxidants, I think it's worth paying a little more occasionally to enjoy a nice and nutritious meal.


Summing Up

So May was an average month and I am hopeful that I will do better in June, while I continue to enjoy the acai bowls! Well, I am still not sure whether I can hit my 8,000 steps target but I will just keep doing my best and enjoy the process! Like what some say, it's not always the outcome but the journey that counts! :)

Overall those are good results, so if you can keep this level, I think it's ok. Those bowls look great by the way.
