Here's my entry for ZapFicMonday! Hope you will like it!

John was reading his novel when he heard the familiar shouts coming from the next door again.

The neighbours are always quarrelling, he thought to himself.

Then he heard a piercing scream, followed by a gunshot. He froze in fear, in his mind, he knew it was an emergency situation.

Such a sad situation as domestic violence. One thing for sure is a person may want to help or intervene, but often it does not end well for the victim or the person willing to help. Society has just glossed over that type of family interaction until it is too late.

Thanks for sharing the all-too-familiar story, especially in the U.S. Take care.
