Words have Power (A dreem-wotw drabble)
This drabble is in response to the latest Dreem-WOTW challenge due today in Dreemport by midnight UTC. You can find the contest post, and how to enter, here. The gist is to write a micro-fiction exactly 100 words long in response to one of the prompts. I used the prompt: Where does it hurt?
The high-pitched cacophony reached a crescendo, drawing my attention. Looking up, I saw Lily slump to her knees as the other children scattered.
The space between us disappeared in seconds. Kneeling down, I wrapped myself around her pain.
Where does it hurt, angel?
Her bottom lip quivered. A salty wound ripped open as tremors rippled through her little body.
I winced.
Her silent tears gripped my heart.
I followed her gaze to where the children stood... laughing, staring, pointing.
I turned her face gently toward me.
Where, baby?
She took my hand in hers and placed it on her heart.

Thank you for your kind and encouraging comment, @weone 🤗 I can't actually compete as I run the contest hehe. But I like to find new writing challenges and always appreciate constructive criticism so that I can grow in my writing. I usually write circa 1500-2000 word fiction posts. I've only written a couple of drabbles prior to this one but thought it might be fun for the dreem-wotw crowd this month !LUV !ALIVE
