The first thing that comes to mind when I heard "backup generator" was a machine where (diesel) fuel gets converted into electricity. 🤔🤯

Well, you're close, it's a gas-powered generator that charges the batteries on our solar electrical system if there is not sufficient sun.

Do you mean that your electrical generator uses gas to produce electricity, which is then used only to charge batteries when your solar panels didn't get enough sunlight? 🤔🤯

Presently no. It would be great if we had other means, or if the solar electrical system were solid enough that we wouldn't need anything else, but sadly neither is the case.

I was going to suggest a pedal-powered electrical generator, though it looks very inefficient and is only cool as a way to exercise. 🤔🤯
