Do what makes you Happy? Get your Buzz on!
Good afternoon buzzers, what a lovely Monday it's been so far! I hope everyone is having a great day! It's a new week and a new chance to shine! Or buzz! Whatever gets your Sloth buzzing!
Today's post is about Happiness, seems there have been a few people talking about this over the last few days! I feel like I should probably remember where or when or why, but, having spent the weekend at the pub, I'm not sure if I'm coming or going right now!
I do however remember why I don't drink! Well, there are a couple of reasons actually! The first one being my bullshit meter goes through the roof! The second one is how bad I've felt ever since! Getting too old for this drinking malarky, not the young spritely sloth I used to be.
Let's focus on the positives though, doesn't seem like there's much point focusing on negative energy, it won't bring us the happiness we so deserved!
What Is Happiness? How does one get Happy? Can it be bought? Does someone else have to provide it to us?
If I had the answers to those questions, I'd probably be some super-rich psychologist sloth! However, like most of us, I continue to buzz through life chasing so-called happiness! Where is it? How can one achieve it? Well, that comes down to each of us individually. There are not many people out there that could 'make' us happy. Happiness comes from within! And the only way to truly find it is to create your own happiness!
I read somewhere the whole mental health movement is more focused on stopping you from having the negatives, depression, anxiety etc however, it doesn't really teach us 'how to be happy' merely how not to be sad. It got me thinking, what actually makes me happy? Is this a question I even know the answer to?
What makes you happy?
Will what makes you happy make me happy and vice versa? Probably not, we're all unique, no matter how much we're pushed into the group-think narrative! Of course, we can help each other achieve happiness, but it must start from within! I have a few quotes I oft look at, 'if you're miserable when you're alone, you're horrible company!'. This is one that's stuck with me. Of course, we all have times when we're sad or low, but if we can't find happiness within ourselves, what chance do we have to spread that among others?
I think it goes nicely with another of my favourite quotes 'You are 100% responsible for the energy you bring today'. At the end of the day, only you get to determine your attitude in life. Having a negative one will only cause things to pull you down, especially if you let them!
Both these quotes go great with the final one on my list. 'Serenity comes when you trade expectation for acceptance'. We cannot control anything that's out with ourselves, however, we can control how we react. Being accepting will allow Happiness to flow even when things go against our expectations!
Is there a point to this? I've no idea, what I do know, is i really wasn't feeling in the mood to post today, mostly due to the underlying hangover that's still turning my guts! However, I'm slightly happier now I've pushed through and got some words down! Sometimes it's the little things that bring the most Happiness!
