Happy Pre-Wedneday Walk!
After a day of miserable weather yesterday, where it rained for almost 16 hours, I made the most of the early morning sunshine today and got 5 miles in with the doggo! There was a very light dusting of snow on the ground in the shaded areas, but the sun was swiftly melting what was left. We drove along to the next village, then headed for the coastal path towards the next again village. Taking in some beautiful scenery and golden sandy beaches on the route!
We started the walk by taking a wrong turn, ending up in a field which seemed to be popular with dog walkers. Not just normal one man and his dog, but dogwalkers taking 3-8 dogs out at a time! To be fair, it's a wide expanse, pretty well fenced in, and a great area for those dog walkers to maximise the exercise they can give to each dog in a short time!
After finding the path we intended to take, under the railroad, we started our journey along this couple of mile walk. Also forgetting to start my watch at the beginning, I decided to start it from the midpoint of our walk, giving me half the distance, which I can easily double to work out the total walk (bar the 15 minutes we spent playing with the ball in the field!)
I set out with the intention of visiting the castle situated in the middle of the village, however, ended up continuing along the coast by the beach, I never felt like moving in towards the centre. So, I'll keep that for another day!
I did pass this awesome little waterfall, more of a water runoff for the surrounding fields, but it looked awesome all the same! The water pouring down the hill and under the bridge was such a refreshing sight on this cold crisp morning!
I didn't see much other wildlife, nor many people for such a popular area, but then it was early on a Tuesday morning. We did pass a robin, but it was too quick to snap a picture. I did find this awesome little multicoloured bird, I've never seen one with such markings before! Does anyone know the type of bird? I believe it's a pretty common one, maybe a passing seagull 'dropped some luck' on it?
Passing a small cafe on the return leg, I considered getting a coffee and a bite to eat, however at £3 a coffee and £3.50 a filled roll, I thought I could hang off until I made it home! Currently enjoying a nice 'free' coffee whilst I type this!
I was amazed at how close the railway line was to the path, we were almost within touching distance! Only a small fence or wall separated us. Squished between that and some rolling hills and woods! It was a peaceful walk for my Tuesday morning and I look forward to taking the track again and discovering the castle!
Well, thanks for joining me on this Tuesday - Wednesday walk! I look forward to seeing other people's walks this week! Until next time.
