It was an interesting attack, and a resolution is now in place. Everyone needs to update their bots/services to ensure they're sending less transaction per block. I guess it was a good thing it happened now when Hive is still relatively under used and allowed the devs to put better practices in place, even if it did knock the sloths buzz for some time! Should we be thanking the user for showing this vulnerability? Everyone loves a good beta test after all!

Luckily our bot code does not combine any transactions into the same block. Easier to code that way and I do not really see the demand for that.
Those trade bots out there are obviously different. But the new limit of 20 transactions seems reasonable to me at first glance.
It was a troll move and could have been much worse. Imagine a simultaneous attack by several accounts of that magnitude. The sidechain would be dead for weeks. And that has to be on their scareboard now for sure so I expect further meassures to ensure the safety of hiveengine.
