I dislike any music while playing Call Of Duty. It’s distracting and music makes it difficult to hear important environmental sounds like foot steps, grenade bounce, gun fire’s distances and more.
In story modes music reveals game play elements like danger or calm, like a movie. I felt like it was more realistic to be without music in story mode also.
Music during Double Dribble and Castlevania was cool. (I’m old.)
Interesting experiment. I’m not surprised music inspired carelessness… “Rhythm Is King!” 😊

I'm glad we're in an age where you can choose to decrease the BGM or turn it off completely in most games... I always keep the BGM settings a lot lower than the SFX when I play games.

Remember Tenchu? The music was great, but gameplay was more fun without it.
I can’t think of many games where I would want music except the Mario Brothers 1,2, and 3... and the one with Yoshi. GTA music was cool too.
I remember Tenchu, but I don't know if I played it because we were into PS2 at the time.
I can imagine any stealth game becoming better without Music, (that includes MGS and Assassin's Creed if played stealthily, despite their great music design.)
