One of the reasons to walk is to improve your health. Today the calendar wants us to take a walk & share 5 photos from your walk. Well with all that's going on in my personal life, this was impossible for me. So, today I'm gonna share a little about the health benefits of walking.
Walking is good for your heart, muscles & bones. It's also a good method for losing weight. I'm short on time so I will share 2 websites with you that gives you more info then I can share with limited time.
The one thing I can say is that when I used to walk, it did help my health and after not walking for some time now, I seem to have more health issues then before. I want to go back to walking but it seems that it's hard to get back into it. Maybe some time in the next month or so, after all these stressors I have are done & over, I'll find my strength to get back to it.
In mean time, here's those two websites to help you understand the benefits to your health.
Find a "walking buddy" to help with getting back into walking. It's a whole lot easier to do when you have someone else with whom to chat and encourage you to get out there!
My parents decided that they would walk every day (they are 87 and 83). It may only be 15 minutes some days, but they at least get out of the house and walk. When they are in Florida, they'll many times drive to a beach with a concrete walkway near the road. That way they can have stability under their feet and enjoy seeing the water. Every time I would visit them there, we always had a walk. If we were at a beach, we'd walk then sit down and watch the water a while. It was a very relaxing time to chat and get away from everything else.
I wish I had a beach close enough, that would definitely get me out and walking. A buddy system would be nice but I have no friends where I live. Although I have been here for 13 yrs, I pretty much a loner and my husband has to work standing on his feet for 8 hours a day so the last thing he wants to do is walk. Now that the weather is nicer, I will get out and just walk around my house, it sits alone so there's plenty of walking space. When I decide, my legs can with stand it I'll proceed by walking to the nearest store which will be about a mile walk. I have a plan, I just need to get out & work it. I used to love to walk, I don't know why it's seems like such a task now.
I pray when I'm your parents age, I can still get out there & walk.
