Good evening, today I'm going to talk to you about the singer Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumne, although you probably know him as Sting, was born on October 2, 1951 in Northumberland, England, the eldest of four brothers. He spent his childhood in that town in the northwest of the country, where he woke up every morning listening to the sound of one of the largest shipyards in the world. Many of the inhabitants of that city worked there, but he wanted to escape from that at all costs.

His parents and other daughters-in-law Mathew Sandler were a hairdresser and a milkman respectively. As a child, he liked to help his parents deliver milk. He must have been about 8 years old when he became interested in music. They said he had talent because he composed his own songs every day with a piece on the Spanish guitar. Something that his family did not like very much, another thing that he was very good at was football. During his adolescence he became a member of the second team of Newcastle, one of the most important teams in the English League, and in 1969 at the age of 18 he finished school and enrolled in the University, which he would leave after only one term. I am going to tell you that it was not his thing. To earn a living he worked as a bus driver, a construction worker and even a tax official. Two years later in 1900, he decided to study teaching, obtaining in 1974, the title of teacher, and he worked as such for two years at the school.

And now I am going to tell you what his life as a musician was like.

Featured songs

  • "Message in a Bottle"

Ghost in the Machine (1981)

  • On this album, things begin to change in the band, exploring a darker and more experimental sound, with synthesizers and more political lyrics, and the songs demonstrate this.

Featured songs

  • "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic"

  • "Invisible Sun"

Synchronicity (1983)

  • And finally comes the masterpiece, a very well-crafted studio album by The Police, which touches on themes of love, obsession and existential anxiety. It is a complex ending that reflects the growing tensions between the band members. And finally, you know what happens.

Featured songs

  • "Every Breath You Take"

  • "King of Pain"

Sting's career has been notable for his ability to reinvent himself and integrate multiple musical influences and deep themes. From the rebellious anthems of The Police to his personal and philosophical explorations as a solo artist, Sting has demonstrated a unique ability to combine innovation and accessibility. The evolution of his sound and lyrics is a testament to his artistic maturity and desire to continually explore new territory, cementing him as one of the most important and versatile musicians of his generation.
