Good evening ladies and gentlemen, today I want to take you back in time to the very moment of the summer of 70 until now, and I'm going to remind you of those songs that were played on the radio non-stop because they were the number ones or as you called them "The song of the summer"

So let's begin.

The summer of the 70s

1970: "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)

  • This song with a catchy chorus is originally from the group "Mama Told Me" but the version that we all know is from the group "Three Dog Night" even so both versions are very good. I'll give you the original version.

"Venus" de Shocking Blue

  • The song is by the Dutch band Shocking Blue, released in 1969 but you can also know it by the version of "Bananarama" in 1986, which is the one I know and thanks to this version I met the original group that sang it, which by the way does it much better than the group "Bananarama"

"War" de Edwin Starr

  • This piece of song was a protest song against the Vietnam War. Originally written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong.
The lyrics of the song are direct and forceful, with the chorus:

"War, huh, yeah
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!"

  • Through these verses, the song expresses a direct criticism against war, questioning its usefulness and its terrible consequences. Edwin Starr denounces the ravages of war on people and society, suggesting that war only brings suffering, destruction and loss of life.

1975: "Love Will Keep Us Together" de Captain & Tennille

1979: "Bad Girls" by Donna Summer

  • This song is known all over the world because I think Donna Summer's songs reached all countries and also this song made her be named "Queen of Disco" and captured the spirit of the time. And even today we can still hear it in many places.

The summer of the 80s

"Every Breath You Take" de The Police

  • It is one of the most famous songs by The Police, released in 1983 as part of the album Synchronicity. Written by Sting, the song became a worldwide hit, reaching the top positions in the charts of several countries and remaining one of the most emblematic songs of the 80s.

"Flashdance...What a Feeling" by Irene Cara

  • Well, I haven't danced to this song, but the truth is that I've heard it in a lot of places, maybe other people have, but at least I haven't.

"Technotronic" - Pump Up The Jam

The summer of the 90s

"Guru Josh Project" – Infinity

  • A great song that I'm sure more than one person has danced to in the nightclub, and also all the versions that there are.

TLC's "Waterfalls"

  • TLC’s “Waterfalls” is one of the most iconic songs of the 1990s, released in 1994 as part of the album CrazySexyCool. The song addresses deep social issues such as drug use, HIV/AIDS, and street violence, conveying a warning message about the risks of “chasing waterfalls,” a metaphor for the dangers one can encounter when chasing unattainable or harmful things.

"Kiss from a Rose" by Seal

"Genie in a Bottle" by Christina Aguilera

Hello, that's all for today, as I have to gather a lot of information from the number of songs that there are and I try to make them songs that we all know. If I'm missing any group from the years that I've mentioned, don't hesitate to leave a comment.

So tomorrow there will be more and better.
