Hitting that orchid ๐ŸŒธ trail for a Valentine's ๐Ÿ’™ gift and many other goodies ๐Ÿซ

I wanted to post this last Friday however I was away on a post Valentine's wee break and so today is the day instead so to speak.

This being a Market Friday post, we are going shopping, and not just any old shopping, oh no, we are going to go shopping for Valentine's Day.

image.png

Actually I have to confess, we don't really celebrate Valentine's Day anymore ๐Ÿคฃ Everything is overpriced and if you want to go eat it is crowded etc etc so we would rather go eat when it is quite and cheaper.

However I am a confessed shopaholic and do go out to the grocery store most days!

I am also very easy to please, gimme some chocolate and I am like a ๐Ÿท in ๐Ÿ’ฉ!

The eagle-eyed amongst you will see the trolley handle does have LDI of ALDI on it, so yep I am at the ALDI by the park. You may well have noticed something else in the trolley...

image.png

Yes I got some pancake mixes for Shrove or Pancake Tuesday which was on Tuesday 21st Feb... However as it was Talk Time with Tengo on Tuesday and I had been waiting for a plumber I decided to wait until Mrs T was not working, which is today! However our shower is still not fixed and we are waiting for an electrician to come fix it, which is a pain in the arse as the weather is gorgeous! Tomorrow will probably be ๐ŸŒง

One more chocolatey thing I had to get was this...

image.png

When I saw @dreemsteem I had to give her a bag of well Dreemy, however I had not tasted them, so job sorted, I have had one now!

Like Dreemie, Mrs T is an American and she loves that pbj thingy!

image.png

For the rest of us PBJ means Peanut Butter Jam. This jar was on sale and I said thank you very much, we'll have one of those to go with my Caramel spread for the pancakes.

I will also make some pancakes from scratch, especially as there a completion in the form of an #edtopic all about PANCAKE DAY which I want to join in. @mypathtofire led the way with his fantastic made by him pancakes.

I digress so let's get back to Mrs T.

IMG_20230209_112025_288.jpg

She loves wool or yarn and cannot get enough of it! She also DOES NOT LIKE CHOCOLATES! Actually this works out perfectly because whenever we get given or she gets given a box, then yep, yours truly gets to ๐Ÿ– out with the ๐Ÿซ

So as you are beginning to get the picture I got her some wool. This blue chunky wool though! Damn it looks fine, I might have to pinch some and make something with a new toy that I got last week.

Prizes for guessing what that new toy was?!?

There was something that I had spied at the front of the store... Can you guess what, now remember that this shop was BEFORE Valentine's Day!

Yep plants. I am great believer of NOT giving flowers but giving a plant instead.

image.png

How about these beauties! An orchid in a ceramic pot for $8.99 so eleven bucks or so!

A good price? I have no fluffing idea, but it sounded like it...

image.png

Into the trolley one gorgeous orchid went!

A wee Secret ... I love plants. Another wee Secret (this seems like a kind of buy one get one free Secret deal!) I love pinks purples and bright colours so that was why I choose that one instead of the white ones!

image.png

Back to our shop. You didn't think I was finished surely!

So ALDI's here in the UK, not sure about with you, have their Special Buys which start on a Thursday so I usually get up there to see what is on sale. Some of those yarns I got were on Special at ยฃ4.99 for four balls of 100g yarn!

image.png

I had seen people getting wood and seemingly burning it to make gorgeous wee patterns and things. Turns out one of Mrs T's sister does this... And look at that price ยฃ9.99! Only ten fluffing quid!!! Well that went in the trolley!

Talking of trolleys, do you say trolley or cart?
When I think of a cart I think of gokarts zooming around a track!

Seems we are talking about the USA again, so you guys have Fat Tuesday, yet Mrs T had to settle for Fat Quarters.

image.png

My eyes and grubby hands could not keep away from these Special Buys!

image.png

Remember we are shopping with Valentine's Day mind. And what is the most romantic Paris in your mind? For me of course it is Paris! And looks a Paint by Numbers Eiffel Tower project!

Ya Dancer, in to the trolley you go my friend ๐Ÿ—ผ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿฅ–

I did get Mrs T some sketch books, these were a fluffing bargain!

Cinderfella is never far away and he had to get in on the L O V E act and got some Tea Towels with the word LOVE all over it!

image.png

The trolley kept filling up!

image.png

Can you see what else had snuck it's way in there?

Well I moved down another aisle, and yep something grabbed my eye ๐Ÿ‘€ A Sepcial Buy of course!!!

image.png

For me it was a Dolly! Although it was labeled as Dolly Trolley!

Once our dramedy (thank you for that word Super Eli @coquicoin ๐Ÿ’™) with boiler and shower is over, we needed to rearrange some furniture and boxes and this wee beauty will come in very handy!

Into the trolley you go thank you very much!

I was getting fluffing peckish and so I snagged a bag of crisps for the walk home, and then it was off to the checkout.

image.png

Then it was time to walk home! Bing Scotland it was blowing a bloody hoolie and I had to do some adjustments so that the orchid was not blown to Kingdom Come!

Cinderfella wanted to show you one of her his new tea towels!

image.png

And that my friends was my wee bit of shopping for Valentine's Day!

This is my contribution to #marketfriday from the delightful damsel on the high seas @dswigle

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

Wow, you really cleaned up at Aldi's! We have them here, but I don't think they are as big as they are over there. It's usually just groceries and a single aisle of non food items. My wife and I go there occasionally, but not all the time. We actually do our shopping via delivery now. It makes us spend a whole lot less than if we visit the store. Those orchids look nice!

Yeah your Aldi's seem to be like they were here about 15 years ago, now they are huge and cheap.
I do most of my grocery shopping online too, although fruit and veg I rather get fresh myself.
The orchids were pretty I must admit!

I actually prefer Trader Joe's. I think they are owned by the same company.

I to do not make a point of Valentines, I try and ignore it and just out of the blue celebrate on other days with my wife

The cadbury caramel spread i have never seen before but I do love caramelo chocolate so would be intrigued to try it out, we do have an Aldi near by which I havent been to I am thinking I will go and see what they have

I think the Ald's do vary from country to country, they are now pretty big in the UK and one of the cheapest supermarkets.
Yeah out of the blue is always the best way to celebrate!

When I last visited London with my wife and stayed at her Sisters, there was an Aldi within walking distance and walked there to pick up things for the house a few times

so I will check out the one here possible today

You are really a shopping addict, looks like you enjoy it so no harm ๐Ÿ˜ I like the concept too of not giving away flowers but plants for me its more meaningful, we call them cart down here, I have been tempted to do groceries shopping via delivery but its not a popular service down here yet

Ah I do most heavy items shopping online!
Yeah plants are more meaningful, exactly and they are here long after flowers have died!

Onlone grocery shopping is fine, but sometimes the fruit and vegetables they give you are not so good!

I super enjoyed reading the post. Itโ€™s like Iโ€™m watching a variety show, but Iโ€™m reading it instead ๐Ÿ˜‚

Good buy! Actually thatโ€™s a lot! So lucky Mrs T! The plant instead of flowers is the coolest of them all! Like the concept behind it.

Ah yes gotta love a plant, in five years it can still be flowering away whilst flowers are long gone!

Thanks I do try to have a bit of fun when writing!

Hehe!!! I finally taught you a word, lol slang the filmmakers.
So you are a shopaholic haha. As I get older I enjoy shopping less. Unless it's to buy delicious food. And I like craft markets too.

That wood graving set is perfect for the pot I wanted to make these days with the fruit of the tapara tree, hehe. And your nephew would love some rides on the dolly trolley. ๐Ÿ˜น

Have a super weekend, Super Ed ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒ€

Wow! You little bargain hunter! Way to go! The Aldies here locally have the same days for their sale days or special prices. We have Lidl's also, with many of the same type of bargains, but, Aldi's edges them out, ever so slightly They both do well here. In 1961, the Albrecht Family founded the world's first discount grocery store in Germany. 16 years later in 1976, we opened our first ALDI store here in the States. Long time, since they have been here.

I don't say trolly or wagon, but do say shopping cart. We have trolleys downtown, so I have always thought of them as modes of transportation.

I celebrate Valentines, but, not the traditional way - usually. This year, we did because we were away and it was a huge theme for travelers. I loved your orchid and what a huge bargain you got! That was cheap, Ed! Glad you scooped one of those up. The wool was crazy good and Cadberry caramel! Yummy!! I would say you did well, except when you had to run home in fear of the wind battering your plant! Thanks for taking us with you! Dreemie @dreemsteem was sure to love those candy bars! Sadly, they aren't tootsie rolls. ๐Ÿคฃ

Hello!! Market Friday is running so late this week, apologies! I was under the spell of the family holiday, surrounded by family and obligations, although they are heart-warming wonderful ones! No internet or sketchy at best has been my best friend. Yikes, right? To be honest, I tried and failed to even post this week, but, I was so very happy to see you putting one out! Thank you! I apologize for the delay in answering and I hope you know how much I appreciate the great participation.

I try to let people know how much I appreciate their participation in #MarketFriday! Even though I get many on a weekly basis, each one is read and enjoyed. I find it interesting to compare, not by the world's standards, but, by how we find the quality of our life with different I enjoy learning more about you and hope you feel the same, that is why I find it important to take the time to read a couple of #MarketFriday posts and leave a genuine comment. There have been so many carrying #MarketFriday for me in my absence! I am so happy to see that! I leave you with the guidelines. I hope you are having an amazing week!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service. It can be a movie, an auction, or even a museum. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or product. Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? Was it expensive? Did it go up or down? A scroll of pictures with few words doesn't usually work. Things need to be explained.
  3. Post the pictures. Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post, it is too difficult to guess about some.
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post (#hive-196308) This is not required but appreciated.
5.PLEASE Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it!!
  5. Following me and reblogging the post would be appreciated, but not a rule, more vision for more views on the #MarketFriday posts!
  6. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!
