My Hive Week Review for 7/13/2024, Making Headway!

This has been a bit of a busy week so it's nice to have the weekend to catch up and try to write some posts for next week in advance. I started to participate with the #saturdaysavers group sometime back because I found that it helps me better track my goals. It's not that I didn't have goals, I was being more passive about them and as a result often I forgot about them. This has helped me keep the focus on achieving my primary goal, which is to reach 5,000 HP this year. Let's jump into the week in review!

Hive Power

I'm at 3,650 total HP which is an increase of 85 on the week. I'm still on track to reach 5K by the end of the year by earning at least 46 Hive a week. My goal has also been to do this organically, because if I can do it then anyone can. There's nothing like a personal success story to help onboard and encourage new members!

DUO

Recently @bulliontools , @bitcoinman and I launched a new token by the name of DUO to help support onboarding. Those who stake 200 or more tokens can receive a daily curation and come August 1 Hive dividends. For those who stake 500 or more you can give a daily DUO tip, and when you tip others you receive the same tip amount in your bag as well! I currently have a little over 500 staked but will be picking up more very soon.

The curations and tip bot are already live. This week we tested the dividends feature and it worked like a charm, so DUO holders may see a tiny trickle until the test funds dry up. We've had an encouraging start and already have over 5,500 HP staked in the @duo-curator account. All funds from sales go into HP and will stay there.

Come August 90% of earnings from curations will be converted to liquid Hive and paid out in dividends, the remaining 10% will go into Hive Power to continue to strengthen curation of DUO holders and newly onboarded members to the Hive ecosystem.

PIMP

I'm still trying to reach my goal of 50K PIMP by years end. It has become much more difficult as the price has increased significantly lately. I currently have 25,621 so I'm a little over halfway. I added 330 the last week from tips and dividends. This goal is starting to worry me, but there is still a lot of time left in the year.

As I've mentioned in the past I like PIMP because it's the only token backed by physical silver, I believe the current total is 35 Troy ounces.

HSBI

I've already surpassed my goal of 2K HSBI units this year and haven't set a new one. On this one whatever happens happens. It's a great project in my eyes and it will help you along your Hive journey. Right now here's where I stand:

I'm up 59 from last week, not too shabby for not really focusing on my growth here.

SIM

I haven't done much with SIM this week, but I continue to hold about 1.1 million. They pay out daily liquid Hive once you are above a certain level, I believe 8K but don't quote me on that, you may want to look it up yourself. For the time being I'm not buying more, mostly because I am putting more of my investments in DUO.

Another thing to consider here is that SIM is inflationary, so that may bring down the price over time. However, measures are being taken in the game to reduce this issue.

PWR

I'm continuing to delegate HP to empo.voter to receive daily PWR tokens. I'll continue to stack them and look forward to the day that they will start paying liquid Hive to holders!

Other Tokens

No changes here, just continuing to collect EDS, DBOND, and DAB. I'm not actively buying more of these or miners. I like all three projects so I will continue to let them pile up in my wallet!

Silver

Silver prices are staying just about $30 per Troy ounce. It did test some highs this week but has pulled back and testing the lows. I'm hoping for a nice rally this week but may see more testing of the support at lower prices. The elephant in the room is still the fed and interest rates, but inflation has most certainly driven up prices. Silver and gold are always a smart investment because they are tangible assets that will always have value, so come World War III or a zombie apocalypse you will be able to depend on it.

Right now silver eagle coins are selling at $5.49 above spot price of silver on Apmex.com. Really a pretty good price although I prefer to pay nothing over the price of silver, but American Eagles always carry a premium due to demand. There are deals that can be found on silver if you're motivated. I love checking out shops that buy gold and silver, especially jewelers because they often get in some nice items and often will sell them near spot.

Does any such platform exist where you can know about any layer 2 tokens, how and in what proportion they can be beneficial for you? I am still very new to all this but I am excited and open to learning since my target for the next year is not easy I must have to follow a plan.

Not that I know of to be honest. it might be a good idea for someone to put one together. I can tell you the ones that I use:
EDS: hold over 100 for curation, but has tiers, the higher the tier the higher to vote
HIQS: if you hold enough and use the hiqvote call it provides curation but it's variable in vote amount
DUO: Curation after 200, but tiers will be added in soon to reward those who hold higher staked amounts, dividends also paid after 200 with the higher percentage going to those holding the most. And the tip bot after 500.
SIM: hold over 8K I believe to get daily liquid Hive dividends
CLUB: holding one gets you a small daily upvote
PIMP: If you delegate enough HP you can get a daily curation
just to name a few. There are many projects out there, I have my favorites, DUO being my most favorite, but I may be biased since I help create it.

Wow, You know enough about tokens. Following your suggestion, I have invested in some tokens and will probably invest in Duo soon too. But what about other token projects? Meaning, do you know any way to gather information about them?

There's really no central location, and no one has put together a comprehensive post about them either. It might be a great thing to put together. The way I learned about most of them is watching the accounts of people who always had high vote amounts and researched where they came from, at least when I first started blogging. Now I just keep my eyes open for new projects that make sense.

The best time to get into a project is when it's early before the prices start to really climb. Of course not all projects are equal and I've been burned by at least one here on Hive. Right now I think DUO is probably the best deal pricewise at the moment, but then again I'm biased since I was part of the team that created it!

Are you guys planning on delegation option for DUO? I mean that would be another benefit apart from the token staking. It'd make DUO powerful like BRO token.

Not yet, we just want to get things rolling first. At some point we can look at the option, but it is expensive to do, I think 1K BEE tokens.

You have some great goals! Like you, all my Hive is organic, and I continue to power up almost of it. I do keep building my HSBI by giving shares as Shadow Hunters Contest prizes. There are only a couple of 2nd layer tokens that tempt me, but right now I'm working towards 200 DUO.

I'm sure you'll make it too now that your back in action here. It's not hard to earn at least 50 Hive a week by blogging and curating. If Hive prices increase it will be a lot easier!
