My Week in Review for December 21, 2024

I find it hard to believe that there is only one and half weeks left in the year. It seems like it was just January! Time does seem to pass by much faster the older you become, but that's part of life I suppose. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Saturday is here again, so I will be writing up another Saturday Savers post. I joined this community sometime back to better help me quantify my goals here in the Hive ecosystem. Prior to this point I had some vague goals but I wasn't achieving them nearly as quickly as I would have liked. Having goals written down and reviewing your progress every week does make it easier to achieve the levels you want to reach. I highly recommend the community to everyone!

Without further ado, it's time to jump into last week's progress...

Hive Power

I had a great week in this category! I started the week with 6,019 HP. I now have 6,126 HP, an increase of 107 HP on the week. Reaching 5K HP was my main goal of the year which was upped to 6K after reaching the first goal. I subsequently achieved the second as well. I'll have to ponder my goal for this next year, but I'll leave the deep thinking and number counting until after the holidays!

PIMP

This is my secondary goal of the year and I'm not going to achieve it. Prices jumped up a lot and so I had to slow my buying. I wanted to have 50K staked PIMP, and I only made it to 33K. I'll have to shift this goal into next year!

Leo

I decided late in the year to begin to stack some LEO. First I set a goal at 1,500 and accomplished it. I then upped the goal to 2,000 and met it as well. I don't have a new goal at the moment but have 2,163 total staked at the moment.

HSBI

My goal this year was to reach 2,000 HSBI. I accomplished that I kept one going. I now have 3,319 total units of HSBI, so one more goal to cross off the list as achieved!

I'm up 26 units on the week, so a pretty good week. I don't have any new goals for these at the moment, I'll just keep letting them accumulate as they help me grow my Hive account.

Roughly a year ago I had eleven total HSBI, and so I decided to do something about it. The way it works is that if you sponsor another person with an HSBI unit you receive one in return. So by helping someone else out you also get rewarded for it. I used to have daily giveaways but they became a little tedious and I changed that to a weekly giveaway. More about that in a minute...

For those of you new to Hive or unfamiliar with the HSBI program I have some guides to help you out. When I started blogging I had no clue what they were and had to search around until I stumbled on a post that explained it to me. That's why I include this every week to help someone out if they still don't understand the program.

SIM

SIM is the governance token for the dCity game here on Hive. What I like about it is that it pays out daily liquid Hive dividends once you hold enough tokens, I think it might be at least eight thousand but don't quote me on that. You can also place them into liquidity pools and earn rewards and continue to get the daily dividends as well, so double benefits! I hold just over one million of these and in the next year will be upping that number to two million.

DUO

My favorite token of them all, although I am a little biased since I help create it! Several months ago along with @bitcoinman and @bulliontools we created the DUO token to help fill voids in the Hive community. The purpose of the token is to accumulate enough Hive Power to be able to use a portion to support new onboards and help retain them through encouragement and with curations. We currently have more than 35,378 HP in the curation account, and are already onboarding and actively searching for new Hive members that want to grow their accounts here in the community.

Our new guest author program is allowing Hive members to earn by posting original content on the duo-curator account. Please see our latest duo-curator posts for rules and information on how to participate. You can receive half of the earnings from the post plus five DUO tokens and if you want we can even pay you out in DUO tokens to build your personal stash.

DUO token holders receive by far the greatest benefits. Once you have 200 staked tokens you can receive a daily curation on your quality posts and receive daily liquid Hive dividends. Once you stake more than 500 DUO you also can use the DUO tip call to tip someone with some DUO, and in return you get the same amount of DUO in your account. It pays to tip others with DUO!

I currently have over 1,200 of these and will be continuing to purchase them. Once this tranche of tokens sells out the price will jump from one Hive to 1.5 Hive each. My advice is to buy in early while they are less expensive! Plus you will make money as soon as this batch sells out due to the price increase! All Hive from token purchases is locked into Hive Power and will never be powered down.

Other Tokens

This was an eventful week for EDS. An accident resulted in too many being given out to delegators and crashing the price of the token. Fortunately they quickly rectified the situation by airdropping everyone a new token, EDSI, which works the same as EDS. The miners and delegators now are paid out in EDSI. Great job to the EDS team! The old EDS token has become a mere meme token now.

I hold just over one hundred EDSI tokens and I'm planning on doubling that next year. I'll have to set some new goals and make them happen in the coming year! I'm continuing to stake my DBOND and DAB, that way I receive more DBOND for staked DAB and more DAB for the staked DBOND. Slowly but surely I'm seeing those numbers grow!

Silver

Silver took a bit of a beating along with the markets. Silver is used heavily in industry so it's prices can be affected by overall market losses. However, it should slowly start to build up some strength and with any luck challenge all time highs due to shortages and uncertainty in the world. Precious metals will always have value so they are an important part of any portfolio, and protect your wealth from inflation.

Every week I like to show some fun ways you can invest in silver besides boring old bars or coins. But to be honest those aren't boring to me personally, I like silver in any form! But this will be a fun way to invest and start our own silver stash. Today's featured product is 100 grams of silver bars, one gram in each one. You can separate them into individual one gram bars from the 100 gram sheet of silver.

DUO token

This is a token from the Hive Onboarding Committee (HOC). It offers curation, dividends, and a tipping bot for those who stake enough tokens. The overall purpose of the token is to stack enough HP to be able to assist the HOC in onboarding and retaining new members to Hive.
