Time Travelling Back to the Early Eighties...
It's Tuesday again and time for another Three Tune Tuesday. I wasn't sure if I would post anything today, but I heard a song that inspired me so here we go. First off, thanks to @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor this fun weekly event. If you don't already participate, feel free to create a post with three songs that you enjoy. One random participant wins some HSBI, so not a bad deal!
The header today was a bit of click bait. Usually I tend to share some harder rock or metal, but not today. Today is going to be some fun rock from the early 1980's. But the header is just so much fun I had to use it, a skeleton with a flaming guitar. Very cool!
Today was going to be an Australian day, and it did start that way. But the last song is British. Why? Probably because my attention span today isn't great... It's still fun though, I promise!
INXS
In the 1980's one of the biggest bands was INXS. Some time back it seems that @bozz did a post on these guys. I think his debate is whether they were a rock band or not since they lacked the tattoos. Formed in Sydney in 1977 and were fronted by Michael Hutchence. They had a string of hits throughout the 1980's and were great band. Hutchence suffered a skull fracture and traumatic brain injury in 1992 in Copenhagen. After that he was never the same and committed suicide in 1997. Brain injuries and depression are a huge issue that are undertreated... But this was a great song performed at Live Aid in 1985, "Don't Change":
Men At Work
Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1978 these guys went on to be one of the biggest bands of the early 1980's. Just an interesting fact, the lead singer Colin Hay isn't Australian. He's in fact Scottish, but I'm sure my good friend @tengolotodo already knew that! They produced some great music throughout the 1980's including their biggest hit "Down Under". Today I felt more like a song for the paranoid, "Who Can It Be Now?"
Icicle Works
Formed in 1980 in Liverpool, England, the same place as The Beatles some twenty years earlier. Probably best known for the song "Birds Fly (Whisper To A Scream)" they had some other great songs. I think my favorite by far was always this one which I have shared in the past, "Understanding Jane". It's just a fun song.
That will do it for this Three Tune Tuesday. I hope you enjoyed some or all of the songs. I know it wasn't nearly as hard as my usual style, but I wasn't in the mood! Please feel free to leave and comments or questions below. Thank you all for all of your support, it's greatly appreciated! Have a great day everyone!

This is a fascinating post about INXS and their lead singer, Michael Hutchence. The tragic details of his life and the impact of his brain injury are truly heartbreaking. It highlights a very important issue regarding the undertreatment of brain injuries and depression. Thanks for sharing this insightful piece of music history.
Brain injuries are a nasty thing, they can leave a person permanently changed. In this case with disastrous consequences.

You’ve done better……..
Next week will be much harder!
It’s not just harder. I don’t happen to like any of those bands.

I love INXS, probably one of my most favorite bands ever. They had some really great songs and still kept that new wave edge from their earlier stuff as they moved into the later 80s. I got to see Collin Hat tour with Ringo Starr he was amazing.
They were a great band, it was a shame Michael died too soon. That is cool that you got to see Collin and Ringo together, that must have been an amazing show. Ringo just keeps on going even though he's not a young man anymore!
No, he certainly isn't!
Awesome tunes to listen to as we watch the market drop Lol......😇🤣😀
And the markets continue up and down, at least the music is timeless! lol
lol…. Very true, my friend!😊
It kind of surprised me to see the markets back down again today !🙄
Saw INXS and Blondie play at Wembley stadium in London years ago. Talk about an amazing day.
That would have been an awesome show!
Seriously superb, I had a crush on Debbie Harry since Iwasat school.
I was just a baby back then lol. Not from my time but here's some !PIMP anyway :)
It was a little before your time! lol But fun stuff just the same!

True, but I often don't know the songs shared. Although I also know a lot of music from before my time because my mother listened to the music all my childhood so it's not that I only know things from when I was younger and growing up..

"Who Can It Be Now?" is an iconic '80s song that combines a distinctive sound, anxiety-filled lyrics, and a memorable saxophone solo. With this unique blend, Men at Work managed to capture the feeling of isolation and paranoia in an accessible and catchy way. Beyond its commercial success, the song remains a timeless reflection of human insecurities and cemented the band as one of the most representative of Australian new wave.
I agree, Men At Work were a great band. You still hear their music used in TV shows and movies until today!
