Werewolf problem? Use some silver shot!

Who doesn't love a good werewolf movie? Add some vampires in and it's even better, like "Van Helsing" with Hugh Jackman. However, back in medieval Europe belief in these creatures was so common that they were feared and hunted like witches. One poor German fellow named Peter Stumpp in 1589 was accused of being a werewolf, witch, and cannibal. After some nice torture he confessed to all that he was accused. He was then put to death by ripping his flesh from his body with red hot pinchers, then all of his limbs broken, and finally beheaded. Then for good measure they burned the body. I wouldn't have liked to been him!

Thankfully, today most people don't believe in mythological creatures and they are only found in TV shows and movies. What got me thinking about werewolves was an item I picked up in a jewelry store in Long Beach, California some time ago. It's a silver bar called the one ounce silver bullet, have a look!

I'm not sure who made it but this one has a lot of oxidation and fingerprints, giving it a nice rustic feel. It's one ounce of .999+ silver making it a great item to add to any silver stack or collection. Why they made a silver bar with a silver bullet on it I haven't the foggiest idea, but I'm glad they did because I like it a lot.

One item that I have always wanted to own in silver is a replica of a 50 caliber bullet, which contains 10 Troy ounces of silver. Just imagine having one of these beauties in your silver collection. This one is only $455 on Amazon at the moment, more than I have in my budget right now.

One thing that has never made much sense to me about killing a werewolf is the use of a silver bullet. Imagine a ferocious beast running at you at full speed and assuming you aren't frozen in terror how are you going to take an accurate shot and actually hit the monster. Not likely to happen. I always thought it would make more sense to make shot gun shells and instead of loading them with metal shot use silver shot. Silver shot is small granules of pure silver used as an investment or melted to be used to create silver creations by pouring it into molds. Here's what it looks like:

Your aim with a shotgun doesn't have to be all that good and to me would make a lot more sense in werewolf hunting. Just my wacky opinion, but if it were me that's what I would do! But that might take all the drama out of a werewolf hunting scene, that might explain why I've never been offered a job as a professional screen writer...

As far as investments go I do have some silver shot, but not a whole lot. I will hopefully be able to pick up that 10 ounce bullet replica at some point, it's just a very cool piece of artwork. In the meantime I will be content with my one ounce silver bar with a silver bullet on it!

That will do it for my post today. I hope my inane blather about silver bullets and werewolves didn't bore you too badly. I do hope you liked the silver though, it's always a smart investment in my personal opinion. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below, and thanks for all of your support, it's very much appreciated! Have a great Wednesday!

Bigfoot and those werewolves probably hang with each other playing poker! That guy had one horrible death, people can be very barbaric, and that was only 400 years ago!

We could use some of that werewolf punishment for violent criminals.

I don't know, maybe a thousand paper cuts a day followed by a bath in straight lemon juice for fifty years would leave a lasting impression.

Maybe the guy that created the design was just a Bob Seger fan...

Werewolves and Vampires never see much eye-to-eye such as the case in the [Underworld franchise](https://www.imdb.com/list/ls041117712/).

You are on the right track, while lead could slow down the typical wolfling, silver is the key. Applying it is a whole different ballgame. A bullet or shot will be on average 'Lycans' effective so long as you have the the advantage of being on the offensive, medium to short range, and in numbers.

However, the situation is not always ideal. Especially when you don't know exactly where your target is and that tense music starts playing louder every step you take. Today's werewolves are not those old film black & white scrawny bipedal hounds. Along with human intelligence, they have lightning reflexes to go with their superior strength but most notable is their keen sense of smell. They can smell you coming inside 500 meters. And that is well outside handgun and shotgun range and they can close that range very fast.

That's why my favorite technique is a silver 50 Cal bullet(s) in a Barrett sniper rifle at a distance of at least 1000 meters, maybe more if you haven't showered lately or tend to sweat a lot in scenes of tension. A useful accessory will be a FLIR IR 100x scope. Werewolves can be in packs, always determine the alpha to take out first, head shot preferred. The pack will become temporarily disorganized giving you a chance to take out a second and third before the pack disperses.

Aftermath; assess and secure area. I'd use a large silver Bowie knife to finish off the werewolf and extract the valuable bullet, at 10 troy oz a pop, I better get the bullet back.
I hope this advice can be useful to you and your readers.

Your friends, the Vampires. 🦇
