Let's talk music and play ( day 17 Contest )

Delilah was born in 1967. Barry Mason wrote the lyrics and Les Reed composed the music. First recorded by a certain P.J. Try it. But he did it without realizing it, and since he didn't believe it at all he decided not to publish it anymore (he would have published it in 2008). Tom Jones heard it and liked it. He explained it in an interview with The Mail On Sunday in 2011: "When I first heard Delilah, I remember thinking, 'This is a comedy record.' My manager said, 'Yeah, but I want you to think about it.'" When "You hear it for the first time, it sounds like a 'We Are The Champions' type song. But it's actually about a man killing a woman."

Lyricist Barry Mason said in a 2001 interview with The Sun that he was inspired by a girl he met while on holiday in Blackpool, England, when he was 15. It was summer love. But when she got home she said she had a boyfriend and it was all over. "I was devastated. "I couldn't get over it, I was jealous and it hurt a lot." He also said he called the girl Delia, but the name didn't fit the song ("Why, why, why Delia" didn't work.) Manso offered another version in the magazine of the International Association of Composers: "I was inspired by the old hit 'Jezebel' by the American singer Frankie Lane."
