My Entry for Shadow Hunters Community Contest/Show Me a Shadow: Round 330 - Evening Bamboo Shadows - GaiaYoga Gardens, Lower Puna, Big Island, Hawai'i - Saturday, July 13, 2024

Warm greetings fellow shadow hunters! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

For my entry in round 330 of the Shadow Hunters Community Contest, today I share a few photos that I took in the early-evening light about a week ago, of some sublime shadows on the very-large culms (canes) of Dendrocalamus giganteus, one of the largest bamboos in the world. It's culms can be more than 1 foot in diameter, and reach a height of over 100 feet. I love taking photos of this massive bamboo, so you'll likely see future Shadow Hunters entries with this glorious giant grass.

Many bamboos, this one included, are quite good subjects for photography, with elegant forms, striking contrasts and colors, and a magical, even other-worldly feel to them. Oh, and the shadows! Shadows cast by bamboo culms and leaves are elegant beyond compare, with their culms being a superb canvas for the play of light and shadows. I hope that you deeply enjoy these photos that I share here today as much as I did when I took them! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
