I can remember my mom telling me it was imperative that I have at least 3 months of money for all the bills stashed away. Combine that with the mindset that we are all one paycheck from homelessness... I remember when I made more a week than I make now a month, on Disability. It's not getting any better...

Sadly, the "3 months of money for all the bills" has long since gone out the window to pay for car repairs, broken water heaters and other such things!
