The Weekend. This Weekend. The One Just Past.

Well, this last week has been a helluva week, and this next week coming up is going to be another helluva one, I'm sure. To alleviate the helluvadness, I felt that it was just as important to have a helluva weekend!

Perhaps it wasn't a helluva weekend all around, but it was a good one. Saturday began by making a spontaneous decision to go to Longwood Garden. Only my youngest was willing to go with me, so the two of us went. I left him unmedicated for the day, because I really do not like to medicate him on the weekend, and I believe it was the best decision. We laughed our way through the entire garden, beginning to end, and well into the drive home and later.

We had both made a decision that we did not want to go into the conservatory and would prefer to stay outside, so we did. There wasn't much blooming (honestly, next to nothing) but it was still the better decision. An unmedicated ADHD child is a good outdoor child.

We spent a lot of time exploring the tree houses that are at the garden. The one that is immediately beside the meadow was the most fun, as it has attached to it these Seussical like Seussohorns.

The boy wanted to know if the horns actually worked, so he had me speak into the mouth end while he listened on the ground. Sure enough, after hearing me ground him for the next 30 days, he admitted that they do, indeed, work.

It was chilly, and we were looking to get back to the warmth of the car, but not before finding a bench to sit on because, frankly, the child likes to sit on benches as much as cats like to sit in boxes. During this particular bout of bench sitting he came up with a new photo series: Where in the World am I Flipping Dad Off Now.

Yes. That's my boy.

(I did not teach him that).

(I think).

On the way home we decided to stop by not one, but two - yes, two - Goodwill stores. For those not familiar with them Goodwill's are thrift stores that do a really good job of outreach hiring to people who need jobs. Their stock is always donated and every now and then they have an absolute gem.

Like this one.

I really, really enjoy old music that was recorded on 78rpm records. This is old music. And Jascha Heifetz is one of my three favourite violinists. So spying this album (of 3 78rpm records) was a small treasure for me. $3.00. Yes please.

Already listened to and enjoyed. It sounds as great as it looks.

Today was not as eventful. I went to a community theatre to watch a showing of Boeing Boeing. Friends of mine directed and stage managed it and I wanted to support them. Today was the last showing, so I'm glad I got to see it. It was fun.

It was good to kick back and relax this weekend. There were so many things that I needed to do that I didn't, and that was by design. Stress has hit an all time high, and sometimes the best thing to do is play and enjoy some time off.

You didn't teach him that? It never crossed my mind! Probably not.

I wish I had one of those treehouses in my yard! I am sure I would camp out in it on a nice Spring night. What a cool build.

sometimes we just need to do the needful and give two you know whats about anything but ourselves... unless it is your day to watch the kids. LOL
