#ThoughtfulDailyPost - Forgive Yourself a Break
Been a busy start to the year but I am back with a #ThoughtfulDailyPost! @Wesphilbin waves the flag for us and runs @thoughtfulpost as the curation account that rewards thoughtful posts. Please join us in sharing your positive vibes on the blockchain and consider delegating.
Here are a few few bits of internet wisdom that caught my eye and qualified for discussion with a fantastic legion of followers, engagers and weirdos connected through the #hive blockchain. Now with added music!
Gimme a Break
Les Brown is also known as "Leslie Calvin Brown (born February 17, 1945) is an American politician and motivational speaker." He started his career in radio and went on to become a member of the Ohio House of Representatives in the late 70s. Now, he is better known as a motivational speaker and has a website where you can sign up for a free book https://lesbrown.com/
I do love the title of this one. I am not sure if it is my generation or just me but I am surely not alone in being a little tough on myself. I hate failure but have come to cherish in for the wisdom benefits in the long game. Losers don't fail, everyone does. What do you do with that? Imagine the manual that would explain how to get it right all the time. I probably wouldn't read the whole thing anyway!
Truth is we all fail and I love the soothing notion that it is an integral part of creating that great life. A great life having developed wisdom which doesn't come simply from failing, but from the time spent contemplating that failure. Let us contemplate more and beat ourselves up less.
I seem to share plenty of Billy Joel on the thoughtful daily and You Are Only Human seems to fit the bill this time.
Forgive and Move Forward
Nejwa Zebian is actually Canadian living 45 minutes down the road from me but was born in Lebanon. She is an activist, author and speaker who gained fame on Instagram but her Wiki page seems to have issues with neutrality, citations and subjectivity but I will give the quote some thought!
The first line did speak to me in the same manner as the previous quote. I definitely fall into the trap of letting some memories echo around and batter the inside of my skull. Again I question the generation or that lingering Catholic guilt but it is what it is.
Accepting the past is more easily said than done and I have to mindfully remind myself of that. How it should have been may sometimes feel like riches slipped between fingers but that is only a figment of our imagination because if it should have been, it would have been. Might have been? maybe.
Either way, I find the best way to deal with a situation is to spend time thinking, "Now what? What are you going to do about it?" Let's move forward.
I always loved the feel of Don Henley's voice with or without The Eagles. Forgiveness is a damn good one.
Nothing like getting thoughtful as it is not the mistakes that lead to wisdom, it is contemplating those mistakes. If being thoughtful is up your alley, you have the option to delegate to @thoughfulposts to increase the rewards for positivity.
https://hive.blog/introduceyourself/@thoughtfulposts/thoughtfulposts-introduction-or-a-thoughtfuldailypost is the post that started it all over 3 years ago!
Najwa's words ricochet with me on a personal level, too. Somehow, due to recent circumstances, moving forward has become an impossible task, or at least seemingly impossible. Have you ever met her btw? You must have crossed paths at the least, right?
No! I am discovering her at the same time you are. To be honest, I was a little put off by the warnings on the wiki page, the stardom from instagram, and the fame attained during the me too movement. Still, solid quote.
I have been feeling the impossibility of progression in moments, and thinking how other people might be feeling the same. Then, I just spend a little time thinking how these are not the first issues or challenges that seemed impassible and that if I just give slightly less of a shit and let it pass, I will make it through like every other time over decades. Why this isn't my impulse at this point I will never know.
Time to forgive ourselves and just let shit pass knowing we will make it through.
Sometimes a break is an opportunity to pick ourselves up. Things don't always go well, but somehow we have to get back on our feet, right?
Absolutely. Perhaps it is ego or the weight of leadership that makes us think we have to control everything and are responsible for every circumstance.
We ALWAYS get back on our feet so let's just do that again like a boss.
I’ve been on break for two years. What kind of break? I took a break from all kinds of enjoyments and all so I could save up for my business
I’m sure so many people may be thinking I was lost or something but to me, the break will bring a good comeback
As a business owner, I can't imagine it as taking a break when we are blazing new trails for ourselves. The break will be our fuel to come back even stronger.
Shoulda coulda woulda rumbles round inside my head constantly. I do realize that those rumblings impede significant forward motion, so I am going to give myself a break. I will keep the memories but drop the guilt. Maybe I should print out those quotes and read them daily. Yes, let's move forward!
Exactly. When we repeat these things we know to be true or positive, they manifest themselves in our actions eventually. Forward is the way we are heading when we don't even try so lets give ourselves a break and see if we can steer ourselves slightly in that direction.
We appreciate you taking the time, to either use #ThoughtfulDailyPost, or otherwise help this Community grow. So...
Thank you!!
Perfectly said. Sometimes why we break down is because we don't give ourselves that break. If only we can give ourselves break, we will bounce back more strong
So true. Why not give ourselves a break and avoid breakdowns? Going through the motions builds strength and failures the wisdom to avoid mistakes in the future. Sounds like strength to me!
We can't be perfect all the time.
How boring would that be? I think Neil Peart said, "Adventures suck when you are going through them" so being perfect doesn't sound very adventurous.
Perfectly true. Instead of us dwelling on our mistakes. We should pick it up and make adjustments to correct those mistakes. We should not live in the regret of our Mistakes
I think it might be balance. Somewhere between not acknowledging the lesson to be learned and beating yourself incessantly with the lesson. Regret is like suffering your memory I find and not a great way to enjoy the present.
Just like that, bad time and good time are part of human life and man should keep working hard and not worry during bad time, then one day will surely come when man will have good time all the time. Things will happen.
