Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - Swamp Spitter Is The Star MVP!

Time flies! Just completed the 69th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Staying In Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I decided to stick to what I fought in the last fray, which was Fray 6, which was 3/2/2/1. I felt I was starting to find my grove and this fray is neither too difficult nor too easy for me.

Had 5 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

  • We Got 2nd!

So for the final result, we were 2nd out of 10 guilds and got 1077 Merits and around 9 SPS! That's us being runners-up for 3rd time in a row.

Individually, I had 8 fights this time and I won 6 of them. Finished 3rd in the guild.

Battle 1 - WIN

Opponent fled! Good start!

Battle 2 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Relenor Cleaver

Faced with a Legendary summoner, there was little to separate from both teams as both Kulu Mastermind were very strong with the Opportunity attacks. The difference turned out to be Swamp Spitter whose Repair ability was very handy to slow the attacks on the HP of the cards.

Battle 3 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

It's yet another Lily Shieldpaw again! Faced with this triple ruleset, the lineup had to be very creative. I went with both self healing Sea Monster and Water Elemental, and eventually Water Elemental edged the opposing Kulu Swimhunter because it had the higher speed among the two cards and hit first in the final round.

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Krash Wanderford

One really had to be creative for triple rulesets. Faced with these rulesets, I decided to opt for higher speed cards and hoped that the Blast will be able to strike out some opposing cards. This strategy worked to perfection and as the entire opposing team was wiped out easily. Djinn Inferni dealt the most damage (3+2 per round) so that's my MVP.

Battle 5 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: None

Even with Astral Entity, I was unable to cope with the opposing Phantasm. The final showoff was down to Pelacor Deceiver vs the opposing Phantasm and I lost out by 1 turn.

Battle 6 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Alfredo

Swamp Spitter's Repair did it again! I had more cards to spare as Ranged cards couldn't attack from the tank position, and the Swamp Spitter's Repair was crucial in neutralising the opposing Edith Emberstar's big hits. With Repair and 2 damage per round, he carried the entire team and was definitely the BIG BIG MVP in this one.

Battle 7 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Isgald Vorst

I took advantage of the ruleset and went for a full Melee lineup with Demented Shark. Kulu Mastermind packed a huge damage and together with Weapons Training on Almo Cambio, my entire team's damage output was just too much for the opposing team. Easy win in this one.

Battle 8 - DRAW

Gladius Card Used: None

This was a tough team selection. I had no choice but to go with a Sea Monster and gambled that my opponent would put out a Magic lineup. Unfortunately this wasn't the case and my Scavo Hireling was taken out by Sneak too. Fortunately Sea Monster was strong enough and both teams went down together due to Thorns and it was a fortunate draw.

So that sums up my 8 battles for this brawl! 75% win rate and 1 draw too! Happy with my performance!
