Some Silver From The Venetian, Las Vegas

I've always enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas, it great place to visit and there is so much to do beside gambling. It's become very family friendly, however, the down side of that is that it's become more expensive to visit. If you get the chance to visit it's very much worth the trip, as a matter of fact many of the #silvergoldstackers meet up there once a year!

One of the items that I have loved to collect over the years are Silver Striker tokens. These are commemorative tokens that were paid out as prizes for winning on the Silver Striker slot machines. They used to be in most casinos around the world at one time, but I've not seen one in years now. The nice thing about the slot machines is they pay out actual silver collectable gaming tokens. That was a big part of their popularity. I have won some playing on the slots in the past, but found it was cheaper to buy them online or even in pawn shops in Vegas.

My preferred tokens are ones that came from casinos that have gone out of business because they are pieces of history. There are a few I make exceptions for the rule, one of them being The Venetian in Las Vegas. It's a fun place to stay but it can be a little expensive. The particular token I'm sharing today is one that has an image of the Rialto Bridge in Venice, Italy.

About the token:

This is a beautiful token that is a made of .999 fine silver surrounded by a brass ring. If I recall correctly the silver amount comes out to be about 0.65 Troy ounces, so not an insignificant amount of silver. The best part though is always the art work they put into these. The logo side of this one has The Venetian logo and that this was an edition from the year 2000 celebrating the millennium. The design side of the token has the Rialto Bridge which I'll talk about in some more detail here below.

These are a great way to collect silver and they're a lot of fun to pick up. I've noticed that the prices have gone up on them more than silver prices. It may be that more people are collecting them, so you may want to look for a good deal before you buy!

Rialto Bridge

The Rialto Bridge is an iconic landmark in the city of Venice, being the oldest of the four bridges to span the Grand Canal. If you visit it's a must see location for sure. The current bridge was completed in 1591, replacing an older similar wooden bridge. When you visit it's common to see a lot of tourists there taking pictures, the last time I was there was in the month of August. It was really hot that summer but not even the heat keeps the visitors away!

Venice is a beautiful city with so many historic sites to visit, but next time I go will be in a cooler month to avoid the crowds. Europe tends to be very crowded in July and August from my experience. I do have my own pictures of this bridge but they were taken on a film camera, so I have prints and negatives somewhere that I need to covert to digital. As you may guess it's been a few years since I've been to Venice!

That will wrap up my post for the day. I hope you enjoyed seeing the silver token as well as pictures of the real item. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. Thank you for all of your support everyone, it really is greatly appreciated!

I have a few of those Las Vegas Ten Dollar Tokens... I'm pretty sure I got one from Treasury Island... I'll have to remember to look for it the next time I go down to my Secret Cellar, that I have hidden below my Secret Cellar...

I like Treasure Island tokens as well, especially with the Jolly Roger on them.

You got to keep those silver and gold stashes safe!

Awesome token, I love the depiction of the bridge in Venice, I would love to see this bridge in person someday!😊
Is this casino still in operation?
It’s a shame they don’t still use the silver tokens for the slot machines !🙄

The Venetian is still doing well, it's a nice to stay and I checked prices yesterday, non peak they are very reasonable for a higher end hotel.

Venice is a pretty city, I think spring or fall would be the time to visit Europe though to avoid the crowds!

Cool token. I have never been to Vegas or Venice, so one of these days maybe I will have to get my big ass to Vegas at least.

Vegas isn't too bad price wise if you plan ahead and aren't a gamer! Europe is harder because of the long ass flight and finding your way around if you don't speak the local language.

I think you'd like Vegas bro!

I have been to Naples, but that is the only place that I can recall visiting in Italy. Would very much like to do one of the SGS meetups sometime, but just not in the budget really.

I love the Venetian. One of my favorites. I'll be honest, all the kids running around annoys me. It's not that I don't like kids, but come on, it's Vegas! I remember my second time there I was on the gaming floor at the Aria and kids were running around the tables. Security was oblivious. It's insane how expensive Vegas is. Even when I think I budgeted enough for things besides gambling it's still 3x too little.

The food and drinks are way over priced. I always plan to spend at least double what I plan on when I go. I can't believe security wasn't all over the kid problem around the tables. The gaming commission can shut them down for that kind of stuff!

That's what I thought too, but it was just a joke. Even in New York New York there were kids meandering their way through the gaming floor.

Venice indeed is very beautiful! I've been there once and it's a lovely city! Amthough it's indeed overcrowded by tourists, especially in summer.
