Three Tune Tuesday With Some New Wave/ Re-blog lottery!

generated with ideogram.ai

Welcome back to Three Tune Tuesday yet once again! Thanks to @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor the event along with some other generous individual here on Hive. Today I thought I would do something different, and revisit some new wave movement bands of the early 1980's. So if you're expecting hard rock or heavy metal, today's not the day!

The new wave movement started in the late seventies and early eighties emerging as an offshoot of the punk movement is the 70's. There was more use of synthesizers and not abrasive like the earlier punk bands. Acts like David Bowie, The Ramones, Talking Heads and Blondie were very influential to many of these bands. A couple of them today are more obscure but produced some great music. To start out I think we'll start with a band out of England.

The Alarm are band that came out of Wales in the early 1980's becoming a popular new wave band. They became well known opening for Bob Dylan and U2. While opening for the band U2, Bono often would come onstage with them for their last song of their set. They had several big hits including "Sixty Eight Guns", "Rain In Summertime", and this one "Rescue Me".

The Stabilizers were a band that formed in Erie, Pennsylvania in the the mid 1980's. Heavily influenced by the new wave movement out of Europe they only produced one album, Tyranny, in their seven years as a band. This song peaked at number 21 on the charts in 1986, here's "One Simple Thing".

Now it's time for an obscure but cool song by a band by the name Burning Sensations. They were from Los Angeles and formed in 1982. In their short time as a band they only really produced one song of any notoriety which is "Belly Of The Whale". For some context for those not up to date on your biblical old testament, it references Jonah who fled rather than preach the word of God. While fleeing on a ship it was pounded by bad weather and he eventually confessed he was the one causing God's wrath on the boat. So they tossed him overboard and he was swallowed by a whale for three day. After the whale spit him out he returned to preach as God ordered. At least that's what I remember from Sunday school.... If I'm way off feel free to chime in!

Anyway, it's a cool song with some nice ska sound in it! A truly lost song of the 80's.

Today I thought I'd include a bonus track from a much better known band. INXS originated in Australia and became one of the most iconic rock bands of the 1980's. This song was one of their early hits that launched them into international fame. This one is "Don't Change"

This will wrap up my songs for the day. I know it's not as hard as my usual stuff but I was in the mood for a change today. If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions please feel free to leave them below. Thanks for stopping by!

And since I am posting in the #freecompliments community I just wanted to remind everyone to take some time today to be kind. A little kindness can make a huge difference in someone's life. Please check out the community and consider joining us!

INXS is one of my all time favorite bands. They were so dang good. I wonder if @slobberchops has seen this post and what he thinks of those other bands.

I was a huge INXS fan in the 80's @bozz, bordering on compulsion. I bought all their CD's, even the early material and saw them during the 'X' tour in Manchester (1991).

That early stuff was a lot more new wave vesrus the pop stuff that made them famous. I really dig it.

They were awesome, I went to every concert I could! Still have most of their albums on vinyl! I didn't see them during the X tour, I had just moved to South America! It would have been awesome!

It was at Manchester, they opened with 'Suicide Blond'. Mr Hutchence was around 5 miles away from me, standing only!

Such a shame that damn head injury killed him... I guess that's what you get for dating a supermodel... Don't know personally since I have yet to date one!

He was one of the greats like Jim Morrison!

Me too, especially the early stuff. What a great band, very few compare to them. Such a shame he had the head injury, he would probably wouldn't have committed suicide otherwise....

I'll try next week! I know you like the hard stuff. I do too, but every now and again you have to take a break!

While I do prefer heavier stuff. I do have a pretty diverse range of music that I like. I’m also open to all new stuff, but within 30-40 seconds of a song I can tell if I’ll like it or not. Sometimes it’s the best, or music that I don’t like, other times it’s the lead singers voice. The only exception to that rule is country, I can’t do country.

Awesome set of tunes my friend, this week you stumped me being a “musical child” of the 70’s Lol😇
I haven’t heard any of these bands, great music I enjoyed all three bands!🤗

Most are pretty obscure except INXS, but every now and again it's fun to look back at some of the fun stuff from the 70's and 80's!

I'm glad you like it! Thanks!
