My first HPUD without Power Up...
For quite a long time, every first of the month, I had this habit to power up 1000 Hive. Today is the first time that I will break with this habit. There are several reasons for that. The first and most obvious one is that I made this power up on 21st of December already. However there is also another reason.
I love Hive but I need to open my mind to what is around
For several years, I have been very active on Hive and I have accumulated a sizable stake that I never expected. I have to say that most of my other assets took the path towards hive and I ended up becoming very much centered around this platform. This is great but I think that I want to keep having my eyes open and see whether there are also opportunities on other blockchains.
I will never turn my back to hive but I need to remain open to what is going on around. For me, it's also a way to get out of my comfort zone and learn about new things. Then I like to write posts about what I've found out here on hive. Like that, I can share my knowledge and help other people to remain curious and open minded.
These are the main reasons why I didn't make a big power up today and I probably won't make 1000 Hive power ups in the future.
Continue to grow at a slower pace
From now on, I want to go on growing on hive but at a slower pace. I will build my Hive Power with curation, author and staking rewards but I won't bring outside money into it. I will use this outside money to invest into other projects as well.
For Hive to grow, it needs to be linked
When I see other communities out there, I don't want to become a Hive maxi the way I see bitcoin maxis or other maxis. I believe that many projects have great synergies that are worth being looked at. The more interlinked these blockchains are, the more resilient they become and the more opportunities arise. That's why I believe that we as hivians need to take a step outside and meet the other communities before we invite them to hive... if we can build relationships outside of hive and create a link of trust, it will be much easier to convince people to join us on Hive as well...
With @ph1102, I'm running the @liotes project.

I hope you will share what you will find out there. There seems to be lots going on, especially Solana has really taken off.
I realized that we are a bit sheltered in our hive world and we tend to miss what's going on out there :-).
There is a lot going on for sure!
Fully understand your reasons.
Enjoy the bull market.
Thanks, you too :-)
Nice, you'll bring us crypto news from the outside world, maybe we are too much in this Hive bubble ...
!DHEDGE
hehe, I will try. If we all do it, we bring much knowledge into hive that can be useful.
we'll see what the future brings, I think this year is going to be quite exciting.

@Pardinus was talking with me, this morning, exactly about this subject. He said, and correctly, that I'm closing to much my horizon line in what consider the investment possibilities. I confess that I'm not financially educated, or even self learned... But for my sake, I must consider the opportunities that rely outside of the Hive bubble or reality... I expect that your relationships outside Hive grow and flourish
Happy New Year, @achim03 !
It's true that the hive bubble is a reality that we tend to forget. It's important in my opinion to step outside from time to time just to appreciate the bubble even more ;-)
That's a great thought... I also don't like the "maxi view" of the world as it points back to centralization, which I don't like to see coming back... If we are sure about HIVE and what it can offer, we shouldn't be intimidated by other projects, but rather co-operate and exchange good ideas...
I totally agree. Hive can bring much to the table but other projects can also make Hive a better place. With a maxi attitude, we tend to miss such opportunities!
Understably so! Congrats nonetheless on your successful HP accumulation. Don't forget to whisper those other exciting projects out there. 😉
Happy New Year!
I will try to ;-).
Happy new year!
This is good too
Since you made a power up on Dec21, you may not need to do it again
The goal is to increase our HPs which you have done
Exactly :-)
It's too bad but I do think it's a safe decision for you. You have already powered up a lot of Hive last year and I think it's fine to go slower. Hive is just a small part of the entire crypto sphere and I hope you have good luck in the places you are looking at.
Hive is my home on the internet but I would like to visit some other places as well ;-)
No problem, this is how it happens. We also used to see that you support this project a lot. The problem goes away. After some time, you will start supporting the project again.
I also see it like that
Yeah.
I don't think it's a problem, on the contrary, it can be a challenge on how to grow your account without bringing in outside money. We have to keep an open mind and always look for opportunities. I can't do that yet, but as I learn more about crypto, I can start to do that. The market never runs out of opportunities.
Crypto is a quickly changing environment and over time I stopped trying to figure out things and I was kind of caught in the Hive bubble. It's a nice place but sometimes it can be good to watch outside of it and see what is happening...
Do write about your other forays outside of HIVE here to share with us!
That's my plan ;-)
Hello @achim03 greetings I hope you had a very good end of the year, I am the opposite of you hehehe, rather I am going to accumulate a little hive this year, I have very little and hive is still 7x from its maximum, let's See what the market has in store for us this year. I hope it doesn't reach ATH yet so I can accumulate a little more.
Greetings
I have accumulated a lot of hive over the previous years and now I want to diversify my portfolio a bit :-). I wish you a very successful 2024 :-)
You made some cool thoughts there. At first actually, I thought you were planning to leave the hive but thank God it was not as I thought
Hive is my online home and I won't leave it but I need to open my mind to what is around us :-)
Keep sharing what you find. I love reading your articles and find them insightful for sure. Excited to see what you will do in 2024.
I'm happy to hear that and I will definitely try to share my findings :-)
Good luck with your adventures, crypto is a vast space of opportunities. Most people tend to get 'stuck' with one chain or another, lots of Max's out there as you point out. It's easy to get 'stuck' but it's also easy to be lost with the vastness of opportunities. Your Hive position is such that it makes sense to explore other options, no point having all your eggs in one basket as the saying goes.
That's also how I see it. While Hive is my main focus still, I have the feeling that it's good to look a bit outside. I agree that we can often get lost in the crypto vastness and I will take one little step at a time :-)
Sloth steps it is! I look forward to seeing your future crypto adventures!
I'll be waiting for your impressions of other platforms. You are right, we should keep an open mind and start connecting. Self-isolation is still isolation, and it doesn't need an external force to contain you within a limited space.
I love hive and it has become so important in my online activity that I tend to ignore all the rest. I don't think that it's wise to remain in this bubble and I like to think that we can all profit from getting out of it from time to time.
I agree.
I really like this sentence
This is a good point of view!
If you'll share here on Hive your experiences on other projects I will read them with much interest

@achim03! You Are Alive so I just staked 0.1 $ALIVE to your account on behalf of @ libertycrypto27. (5/10)
The tip has been paid for by the We Are Alive Tribe through the earnings on @alive.chat, feel free to swing by our daily chat any time you want, plus you can win Hive Power (2x 50 HP) and Alive Power (2x 500 AP) delegations (4 weeks), and Ecency Points (4x 50 EP), in our chat every day.
Sometimes when I'm on Twitter and I look at how Hivians try to promote Hive, it often sounds like a secterian movement that tries to convert people. I don't think we will be very successful like that. I think we need to blend with other in order to build trust and then we can invite them over.

Your article is always worth reading because I always get to learn something new. Are you planning diversifying your investment portfolio much more than hive
Hive will always be the biggest chunk of my portfolio but I don't believe it will hurt to add some other tokens as well :-)
I also missed this power up but it was because I was on vacation! Hehe!
That's a valid reason ;-)
