Violinist and Mushroom

In a dense forest, among huge oaks,
There lived poor Violinist, thin as old goose.
At night he was fond of playing the violin,
He gave his heart and soul to music.

His music was like the natural choir of spring,
She sounded tender, like a clear moon shining,
And every animal in that impenetrable forest
Accepted music as magical gift from heaven.

But one day, when the fog enveloped the area,
Violinist met Mushroom on a winding path.
Mushroom was small, but bright, and he glowed,
Because music touched his heart deeply.

Mushroom said: "I am ordinary inhabitant of forest,
But your violin inspired and seemed to awaken me!
Give me your violin, I will merge with it,
I will become part of the music, I will disappear."

Violinist, without hesitation, handed his violin to Mushroom,
And magical melody sounded, hitherto unprecedented,
As if Violinist was just an apprentice to real master,
And all the animals gathered in clearing to listen this music.

At first no one believed that Mushroom was playing the violin,
But gradually music bewitched every listener,
Everyone turned into round dance of lights, and Violinist too,
And each animal realized that he just a dream of Mushroom,
Which ate mushrooms and then listened music of Violinist.

When Violinist woke up, he could not understand for a long time,
Why are there so many police officers in emergency room,
But soon they clearly explained him, how harmful drugs are.
A well-fed badger on a rotten stump gave a long lecture,
And Mushroom played along with him on souvenir violin,
And two crows danced under the ceiling so furiously,
As if they were never intend to return to the real world.
And they really didn't intend.
