Wool and Silk (fable)

Wool and Silk

Wool and Silk, two different souls,
Lived in the house like neighbors in tale.
One of them was knitted warmth,
Other was shiny and smooth, like magic.

Wool said: "I am strong and durable,
In the cold and wind, my strength is visible.
Scarves and sweaters are made of me,
My calling is to make evenings cozy!"

Silk answered with a smile:
"My softness and shine are like a jewel,
Guests wear me to parties,
My fabrics are masterpieces of art!"

Years went by, nothing changed, but suddenly
The house caught fire, a terrible fire was blazing.
Silk and Wool, standing next to each other,
Decided to cope with the trouble together.

Wool extinguished the flames like a hero,
And Silk also did not lag behind her,
But in the end they both burned in the flames,
All that was left of both, were handfuls of ashes,
Which cannot be distinguished from each other.

This was the best proof in the world,
That they deserve each other, like brother and sister.
Gentle breeze blew, and ashes mixed,
And dissipated, and now there is nothing.

The original text was written by me in Russian. I haven't studied English systematically so the translation may not be ideal. The main work was done by Google Translate, I just corrected obvious absurdities, where I noticed them and where I did not confuse them with brilliant insights.
