USA - Los Angeles Disneyland Aka The Happiest Place On Earth

20180430_103228.jpg

Hello there!

Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries, such as Japan (Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido), Maldives, Indonesia (Bali and Yogyakarta), I was going through my past travels to see which would be the next interesting country or city to share, and I finally shortlisted New York, USA!

As you would have known from my past posts, my first trip to USA was a work trip to New York. Because I only had two days for sightseeing, I wrote about how I had to speed run through some of the major attractions in New York. You can read all about them here:

Several years later, I actually managed to visit USA again, and this time, it was for a holiday to the West Coast of USA and because the trip spanned across two weeks, there's definitely lots to unpack and share so sit back, and enjoy the sharings! You can read the earlier posts over here:

We continue our sightseeing across Los Angeles. After observatories and beaches, we were here at what people would call The Happiest Place On Earth aka Disneyland!

I remember it was a long bus ride from the city and the queues nearing the opening hours were super long. But of course, we bought the tickets online and had to turn up!

Personally, I am not a huge fan of theme parks because I have motion sickness and can't really take rides. I used to not care about it and still go on rollercoasters and stuff, but the consequences were totally not worth it. For 1 to 2 minutes of thrill, I end up feeling unwell and at times, even vomitted after the ride, and had to rest for 1 to 2 hours before regaining my usual self.

That said, I still don't mind visiting theme parks just for the sightseeing aspect. I know of countless friends and people around me, who would frown at this thought, and think that not going on rides is a waste of money, but I disagree. There are still stuff to see and experience and I am just making the best out of my own personal condition.

Alright, end of the side story! Probably with this context in mind, you will realise most of the photos are all about the sights in the theme park, and not so much about the rides. Haha.

And we were greeted by Mickey upon entering the theme park!

Just look at that majestic mountain looking structure. Any guesses which Disney movie or character is it for? :P

A few more photos of different areas in the theme park, which I shall leave you to enjoy!

Even though I couldn't participate in the rides, there were still performances such as these for me to sit and watch. As you could tell, it's pretty crowded!

Boat rides too! But the queues were too long so we gave it a miss!

Everyone's favourite! Winnie the Pooh!

And there's someone in its costume taking photos with the visitors!

This should be Disney's founder I suppose. Thought it was a nice backdrop with the castle behind.

I think we spent about 5 to 6 hours in the theme park itself. For people who want to participate in all the various rides, one day probably wouldn't be enough because lots of time would be spent on queueing. For me, it was manageable to sightsee the place within a day, and also had the time to do some light activities, such as watching shows, doing kiddy rides (that are extremely mild), or even taking photos with popular characters.

All in all, it was a fun day at Disneyland. Not too sure if that was actually the happiest place on Earth, it's probably just a cheerful slogan, but it was definitely an enjoyable one, especially when there is no Disneyland in my country! And so we headed back to the city on another 2 hour bus ride and that's pretty much for the day!

So that's all I have today! Have you been to Los Angeles or Disneyland over there? Let me know in the comments below!
