My Zealy Campaign Experience - What LeoFinance Did Right?

avatar

During May 2023 and the first weeks of June, LeoFinance's community started a Marketing Campaign on Zealy. The campaign was compromised of many Quests, small challenges that earn you points, and in which participants compete to earn higher places on the leaderboard.

From my perspective as a participant, the main goals of this campaign seem to be (A) Increasing engagement on their newly updated microblogging platform Leothreads, (B) Onboarding New users, and (C) Incentivise to all users to test the new features.

Social Media Challenges

I don't know if it's a requirement to be accepted in the Zealy campaign, but before we even begin we had to connect our accounts on Twitter, Discord, Telegram, and of course HIVE too... Each of these had a Quest of its own, with details of how you're supposed to link them and the benefits you'd achieve.

Social Media presence plays a role in many quests in LeoFinances Zealy Campaign. Sharing posts on Twitter gives a lot of points. It's needed for some of the Challenge Quests like the Artist Challenge that I took part in. For these quests, you can't enter without a Twitter account.

Daily and Weekly Challenges

One of the brilliant marketing techniques is Threadstorms!

A Threadstorm on LeoFinance is a collection of microblogs on a single topic. As explaind by @magnacarta:

"A threadstorm is one thread with subthreads related to it. These related threads are tied together by the thread's creator. These subthreads are distinct from random subthreads by some indicator such as X/N."

You'll find threadstorms if you explore the #threadstorm tag on LeoFinance. They're usually indicated by the symbol 🧵. Some of the threadstorms I had can become long-form posts with little editing.

Daily and Weekly Challenges are centered around these Threads: You get points for publishing a Threadstorm (twice a week.) You get points for replying to another user's Threadstorm (once a day.) You get points for using one of the Daily Tags. You get points by taking part in weekly community events (replying @leogrowth's posts and stuff.) You also get points by listening to Podcasts.

At certain times, there were Daily Quests for writing a #zapfic thread, (a tiny work of fiction,) and a quest for supporting one of #HivePizza campaigns that was going-on at the time.

One of my favorite things during this campaign was the many people who check out the popular tags and comment on them. Popular tags included #threadstorm #gmfrens and others.

These Daily and Weekly challenges become the main way to earn points, though points earned out of them alone aren't enough to reach a good place in the Leaderboard's Rankings.

For someone who started the Zealy Campaign late like myself, I had to take part in at least one of the specialized challenges to earn a spot in the Top 100 participants...

CYOA Challenges

The biggest points in this Zealy Campaign are from the many "Choose Your Own Adventure" Quests. Each CYOA Series of Quests targets a specific Field or a Skillset that you might have, (or consider developing through the campaign's period.)

Since I didn't have time to develop a new skill, I didn't pay attention to most of them. There were ones targeting the Finance fields, and ones targeting Content Creators. The three Adventures I used to brave were:

  • The Artist Challenge: I drew three art pieces for the 1st quest "Slay the Dragon", the 2nd "Lion Zealer" and 3rd quest "LPUD Participant" in this challenge. I wanted to draw one for the 4th quest as well but didn't have time because of the Team Battle. (See below.)

  • Power Up Challenge: This is a challenge in which you Stake LEO (Power Up) for each Quest, prove it, and get points for each LEO token you've staked.

  • The Hustler Challenge: A challenge about learning LeoFinance's features, and establishing your account. The Quests were small in actions and rewards, but there were many of them, so it took me a while to get good points from them.

The Final Sprint: Team Battle

In the last two days, LeoFinance announced another challenge. The Battle of Three Armies Dividing users into teams. Making them compete to make the most number of high-quality threads for 36 hours.

I joined the #blacklions team. I coordinated some of my progress with @shawnnft @ramsses-sw25 @rzc24-nftbbg @lebey1 and others. We encouraged each other to post more during that time.

The activity increased so much that LeoFinance.io broke for some users. By the end of it, I had "Error 504" show up in every other page refresh. Our team won in the end, and I got the extra points.

P.S: Kudos to @anomadsoul for tracking every single thread in these 36 hours.

Ad Revenue Model

Making use of Ads is one brilliant thing that LeoFinance did during this Zealy Campaign: Making use of Ads.

As you explore LeoThreads, you'll see ads as long you're not using Adblocker. (Brave Browser uses an adblocker by default.)

The revenue from these ads is used to Buy-back $LEO tokens in Hive-engine. This makes some of us remove the adblocker for Leofinance.io willingly because supporting the website is equivalent to supporting all $LEO holders and in turn Hive as a whole!

Waiting for The Results

As I'm writing this, I'm waiting for the results of this Campaign. I ended up in 74th place in the Leaderboard Rankings, so I won't get a share of the main prize along with the Top 50, but I'm hoping, (praying,) that my Rank's reward was worth the effort.

I heard that the Zealy Campaign will be renewed on the 18th, if it's anything like the last one, I'll try to spread my effort more efficiently this time.

What do you think?

Please comment with your thoughts below, and check out my other posts @ahmadmanga to read my stories and look at my art pieces. For now, I leave you for another post.

Salam. (Peace~)

74th place overall is impressive when you consider you got involved late in the campaign. Congratulations for your strong showing in the limited time you participated.

Thank you also for the mention; I'm glad I was able to assist.

Salam (Peace) to you as well. 🖖

Thank you, now that I know what the 1st place prize is, I might be aiming for that next time. (Whether I get it or not is arguable, especially since many of you are probably thinking the same thing.)
