When two tribes go to war

Hello Hello to all you music-loving Hivians

I need to say thanks to Mrs T as she inspired this weeks #ttt or #threetunetuesday post

On Thursday last week they had a BBQ at work. It seemed a fun affair and was held to celebrate someone's 30th anniversary of being with the company.

image.png

If I am not mistaken the company is not much older than 30 years old itself.

That got me to thinking, I remember spending 30 years with the same company would be the norm, now it seems you are lucky if you somebody with the same company for 3 years let alone 30!

@ablaze started #ttt 111 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his latest post Mercury Music Award Nominees 2003 for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 111 - 10 HBI shares to be won!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Who's a cheeky bastard 🤣

So the Sumo suits and it all seemed to be the girls that were playing.

Now Mrs T does like a bit of a laugh and being American she is pretty much the only foreigner in the workplace and gets a fair amount of stick.

She is fun though and gives as good as she gets.

image.png

This guy Stevie is head of QA and a part time DJ, so of course he supplied the tunes for the day.

Being the cheeky bastard that he is, when he saw Mrs T take to the wrestling ring in the Sumo outfit ... of course there was only one song he could play 👇 👇 👇

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Two Tribes (1984)

They were quite the band in the 80s and I saw they reformed to play in their home Liverpool for the Eurovision contest a few weeks ago.

I think one of the best anti-war songs of all time and the video was class.

It shows the genius that is Trevor Horn at work and wiki sum it up really well!

Presenting a nihilistic, gleeful lyric expressing enthusiasm for nuclear war, it juxtaposes a relentless pounding bass line and guitar riff inspired by American funk and R&B pop with influences of Russian classical music, in an opulent arrangement produced by Trevor Horn.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood War 1984

War, huh! Good God y'all
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'
Say it again
War, huh! Whoa, Lord
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'

Humans just won't learn... Even today the lyrics are totally on point...

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Warriors of the Wasteland

I can't have a Frankie Goes To Hollywood music post without including the infamous song of theirs...

Yes the good old public bloodsuckers BBC banned RELAX as the lyrics are about homosexual love, of course it just made the song and the band even more notorious and they lifted the ban a year later I think!

Alot of fans reckoned this was their best tune...

I hope that you enjoyed these Frankie Goes To Hollywood tunes.

Which was your favourite (if any) ?

Note: The three YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

Good old Frankie Goes to Hollywood! Those are some great choices, awesome picks. Some Sumo wrestling sure looks fun, if I were much younger....

Love Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Amazing tunes. Hard to believe that there was also a watershed on the BBC back in the day too.

Any excuse for a watershed with the Beeb Steve!

I was so enthralled and captivated by those two in the first tune. Like dude cupped his balls! Leeeeeemmmmmaaaaaooooo! My eyes nearly left their sockets!

As for the banned tune, where exactly is he coming to?🌚👀

Ah, memory lane! FGTH was a favorite towards the end of my Uni days and beyond. The "Relax" issue was somewhat downplayed here in the States — oddly enough. I remember watching an interview with Holly Johnson some years later and he was talking about "all the deep meanings people were always try to assign the song, but it was just about shagging..."

Two Tribes is still my favorite; Welcome to the Pleasuredome (with the surreal original video) is also on my list...

Welcome to the Pleasuredome is superb and I almost included it but was on a theme.

You would think at the time, it would be a furore over there.

They were a great band though.

30 years! Good for her.

Like most everyone else alive, I'm quite familiar with Frankie's Relax; personally, though, I had no idea they had such good anti war songs. I'm going to need to give them another listen.

That Sumo looks pretty fun!

Yeah I remember them more for the anti war songs to be honest.
Yes I think they all enjoyed the Sumo wrestling. Mrs T enjoyed it she said 😁

Oh God! @tengolotodo you made me travel back in time, I hadn't heard this wonderful band for years, I remember one of my cousins loved it. Thank you for bringing her to this #ttt. I really like the first song.

A hug!

Nice work man, great tunes, one and all and enjoyed the post too, hearing about your wife, the company, the part time DJ etc. It sounds like a fun place to work actually, oh and I know what you mean about 3 years and gone, it's so hard to hold onto younger employees these days. It can happen that you just get them trained up and into a place where they can contribute and BANG they are gone...

Yeah it is pretty good place to work, there are a hell of lot worse out there!

Yep train them up and then Bam gone, you got it!
