A Sunny Three Tune Tuesday!

https://img.inleo.io/DQmWZuvFct4tRofL6inJSczCBU1Ufrzfswj4svQoryddKb7/SG62Gm9tSCW0dv-BaHRuvA.webp

This morning there is definitely a bit of a chill in the air, fall is even sneaking in here in southern California. I'm lucky that it rarely gets very cold and there is almost always copious amounts of sunshine. A lot of mornings I'll go and enjoy sipping coffee out in the backyard, but it was a little colder than I liked this morning!

As with every Tuesday I like to share a Three Tune Tuesday. I frequently have no clue as to what I'm going to share until the day arrives, and today was no different. But this morning I heard a song that I hadn't heard in awhile and it gave me inspiration, it's the last in today's playlist. So what does sun have to do with today's music you might ask? Because today's music was all inspired by the sunny Caribbean, one island in particular actually, Jamaica.

For those of you unfamiliar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt it's a weekly event where you can share a few of your favorite songs with everyone here on Hive. It's a lot of fun and you can here all sorts of interesting music from around the world. If you don't already participate you should join us! Just put together a post and make sure to use the Three Tune Tuesday tag and it's never a bad idea to do a shoutout to @ablaze . One participant is randomly selected to win 6 HSBI, and I am the proud sponsor of one of those units!

Now moving onto the music, today is going to be a reggae day with a mix of a few great classic songs. Whenever I share reggae I usually like to kick of with one of my all time favorites, Bob Marley.

Bob Marley & The Wailers

urbanislandz.com

Bob Marley is probably the most celebrated reggae artist and rightly so. He was the force that brought the music style out of Jamaica and made it loved around the world. Starting his career along with Bunny Tailor and Peter Tosh (known as The Wailers) their musical careers heated up when they embarked on a UK tour with Johnny Nash in 1972. Although the band disbanded in 1974 Marley continued with the band name Bob Marley & The Wailers. After several hit records in 1977 he released "Exodus" which contained some his best know hit songs, one of which was "Three Little Birds". Marley tragically died of melanoma back 1981.

Phillip Leo & C J Lewis

youtube.com

This is a fun one that is a cover of the song "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?". It was a collaboration of British reggae singers C J Lewis and Philip Leo that was released in 1989. I remember hearing the song fairly often that year, it was a fun take on the old classic song. Finding a picture of the two together proved futile so a picture of the original vinyl will just have to do today!

Johnny Nash

abc7chicago.com

Johnny Nash was an American singer and songwriter who started his career in the late 1950's. Some of the music he is best remembered for started when he became interested in reggae and moved to Jamaica in the mid 1960's. There he started to collaborate with the very young Bob Marley and the Wailers. In 1972 he recorded "I Can See Clearly Now" that has become over time probably his most recognized song. The same year he launched a tour of the UK along with Bob Marley & The Wailers. His career slowly began to fade after 1970's. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2020 in Houston, Texas at 80 years of age.

It's always fun to listen to some reggae music, and this Tuesday felt like a great day to share some. Today's songs were all kind of uplifting and I hope that you enjoyed the little medley I put together. Thank you for taking the time to listen! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. I want to thank everyone for all of your support, it really is greatly appreciated. Have a great day everyone!

That's a very nice selection of songs. Three Little Birds is probably one of my favorite Bob Marley songs.

Definitely great choice of music today, even though you didn't know what to put, they are all just great. You know I knew reggae thanks to Johnny Nash, I did it thanks to my grandfather, who listened to it before me, according to history, the Johnny Nash is the pioneer in reggae, before Bob .

Nash really got the ball rolling outside of Jamaica, he moved there in 1965 from Houston and very quickly started working with Bob and the Wailers. All such legends of the genre, it was too bad Nash had his career fade after the seventies. That how music works though! That's awesome that your grandfather listened to Nash way back then, he was a true legend!

I'm glad you liked them. Reggae tends to be a nice mood elevator. Bob was one of a kind, it was a shame that his career was so short.

You cant go wrong with reggae, can you? Awesome selection I enjoyed to acquaint myself with. Havent heard the names of Nash and Philip Leo before, at all. Cant choose my fave here at all. 😜 (Probably... after all, after consideration, its Nash). !BEER

I love reggae, it's always great to for just pure enjoyment. Nash was a true legend, Philip Leo and C J Lewis are still around in Great Britain but since the early nineties I haven't heard anything from them. I think Nash's song was definitely one of the best.

I like the circus by the way, that clip actually worked, that was hilarious!

😎 Viva la divercity! Its a good thing that we have other platforms too, except of YT monopolist, isnt it? Extra !BEER your way.
PS
while my reggae #ttt post is not on the horizon yet, let me share my primary names for this genre: King Tubby and Lee Scratch Perry, and also here goes closely Skatalities tho its not exactly reggae.

Those are some good ones! I love Ska as well, it's not really reggae but it's a lot of fun

It's great to have other options, YouTube really is a monopoly and can make life hard because it will work in one part of the world but restrict it in others... I can't wait to hear yours when you get around to it!
