Three Tune Tuesday with some more Bob Marley

It's here again, Three Tune Tuesday! It seems to sneak up on me faster and faster by the week. I usually like to start writing my posts somewhat in advance and have a pretty good idea of where I'm going. Not so today, it's been a hectic morning taking care of lots of little problems. I guess I should be grateful that they are just that, little problems and not major ones! lol

I just want to say thank you to @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor Three Tune Tuesday. It's a weekly event where you can share a three songs with everyone and it's a lot of fun. One winner is chosen randomly to win 5 HSBI units as well, and you can never have too many of those.

Today I decided to go with a reggae theme, in particular Bob Marley. There are many bands in this genre that I really enjoy, but the man who made reggae mainstream was Marley. In 1963 he formed a band with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer that became known as Bob Marley and the Wailers. In 1973 they went on to international fame after signing with Island Records.

Marley wasn't destined for a long career though, developing melanoma in 1977. He continued recording and touring up to the time of his death in 1981 from complications of metastatic melanoma at age 36. But in that time he paved the way for many other reggae bands to reach success internationally.

I never get sick of listening to his music, he was a great musician. Let's dive into some tunes!

Bob Marley

This first one is a live performance when Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer were still part of the band back in 1973. This one is "Stir It Up":

Next up I decided on another classic but couldn't find any great live performances on YouTube, so I went with the original studio record version, "No Woman No Cry":

Next up I settled on another one of my favorites performed live. It's always a lot of fun to see live music isn't it? This one is called "Jammin'"

Chris Cornell

And today I thought I might throw in a bonus tune. It's a Bob Marley song cover by the late Chris Cornell. He was the front man for the band Soundgarden and Audioslave. He was one the driving forces behind the popularity of the grunge music movement in the early 1990's. Soundgarden is easily one of my favorite band's of the era, and Cornell was a very talented musician. Sadly he committed suicide in 2017 at age 52, a huge loss to the musical world. Here he covered a great song by Marley, "Redemption Song", and he did an amazing job! I'll throw in a shoutout to @geneeverett , he might like this one!

That will wrap up this edition of #threetunetuesday . If you don't already participate why not join in on the fun and share a few songs next Tuesday. Just use the tag #threetunetuesday and it's never a bad idea to do a shoutout @ablaze just in case. I hope you are all having a great week, thank you so much for all of your support, it really is greatly appreciated!

36 years old that’s way too young for Bob Marley!🙄
His music lives on…….😊

My favorite today is of course No Woman No Cry, what a great classic, I enjoy it a lot, but personally when I think of Marley the first thing that came to mind is Could You Be Loved...

I didn't know Chris Cornell's cover and I was captivated, since this is my favorite rock voice, I'm sure our friend @geneeverett will love it, there's no doubt about it hahaha, thanks for sharing...

It's a great song and this is an impressive version for sure. An approach to the reggae repertoire for those who only know rock...

I don't know why I always thought Bob Marley had committed suicide, it's good to find out that it wasn't like that.

Great picks. I had a copy of Marley's greatest hits in my truck, but I wore it out. Have you ever heard the song love sponge? It's a really good reggae song.

Old cassette tapes... These days you forget about those little annoyances of the tape dying and having to replace it! lol

I'll have to look for Love Sponge, I'm not sure if I've heard it or not. Sounds familiar...

Mine was actually a CD. I think it got rotted or too scratched up. I had plenty of cassettes fail on me too though.

Marley is cool. I want to see that latest movie that came out about his life. Have you seen it yet?

I haven't seen it, I think because movies like that can either be great or really suck. Hopefully it will fit in with the former on this one. Is it on streaming?

Im not sure, it probably is by now. I agree with you though about those types of movies. Now I have to go look for it and add to my watch list if it is.
