Can A Cat's Ego Get Any Bigger ?

This is just a short post on the latest episode in the life of Duncan, our rescue cat.

Recently, my lovely wife has been tinkering around with Nightcafe Studio, the AI art generator. She's been using photos of Duncan and the other cats whose servants we've been over the years as the basis for the images she's generated. They've been created doing all kinds of crazy things; having tea parties, going to the pub, playing pool, living in their own cat town, even driving Lambo's.

Because it's an AI generator, Duncan doesn't always come out 100% identical to his real self - his exact pattern of black and white fur is hard to match perfectly. But it's usually close enough that it is clearly him.

One of the favourite ones was of him sitting on a throne in a Versailles-like palace. King of the Cats ! My wife sent a copy over to her family, just so they could see what it looked like.

It as quite a surprise when she got a birthday present recently - they'd got the image printed onto a high quality fleece ! It's big enough to use as a throw on the sofa.

Here is Duncan, admiring himself. He doesn't really go on the furniture; it is not that we don't allow it, it just something he doesn't do. But in this case, the fleece is clearly soft enough that he has decided to make an exception.

I wonder if he knows it is a picture of himself ?

This was the one that surprised me the most; I came downstairs and found him asleep on the fleece ! Very unexpected, he usually sleeps on the stairs landing or on his cardboard scratching box. He's gone from being a rescue cat to having a very comfortable life indeed !
