Upgraded Tokenomics And Good News For Hunters! Bye Fantom! Hello to Sonic!

Say bye-bye to Fantom, and hello to Sonic! The transition to a more optimized framework is now completed, and comes with enhanced transaction speeds and reduces costs, making the network more efficient and user-friendly.

Sonic is now an EVM layer-1 blockchain with 10000 TPS, sub-second finality, a secure gateway to Ethereum, and attractive developer incentives. Let's dive into what's yet to come!

This improvement attracts developers and users, fostering greater adoption and innovation within the ecosystem. Additionally, the scalability of the blockchain supports a growing range of decentralized applications, which can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

But where's the good news for airdrop hunters? Sonic is being elevated to new heights with upgraded tokenomics, shaped by four successful governance proposals on Fantom, which include an impressive 200,000,000 $S tokens allocated for the airdrop.

Join me in earning points for the ~200 million $S airdrop on SonicLabs, the future of DeFi. Use referral code P4K64Y at my.soniclabs to get started!

At the time of launch, the circulating supply of $S was approximately 2.88 billion, with an initial total supply of 3.175 billion, ensuring a 1:1 migration ratio. Six months after the launch, the network will mint 6% of the initial total supply to kick off an extended airdrop campaign, aimed at rewarding both users and developers. This will be facilitated through a unique 9-month linear burn mechanism.

Furthermore, six months after the launch, the network will start minting 1.5% of the initial total supply each year for the next six years, fostering long-term growth. Any unused $S will be burned annually to ensure the effective use of tokens. Sounds like a good plan! Hope Knuckles will not crash the party!

Four years following the launch, the network will increase annual minting to 1.75% to reward validators on a perpetual basis. Any unused ecosystem growth tokens will be accounted for and burned annually.

The expansion of $S is capped at 15% until 2031, and a series of burn mechanisms will ensure a significant reduction in supply expansion over this period. The whole thing kickstarted with the upgrade, and with $FTM becoming $S on the Sonic chain! I teleported my 10 $FTM in a blink, and I was ready to explore!

PVM has more good news! According to an official tweet, we've been earning points for the $S airdrop since launch. Points again? Don't tell me this airdrop will have gems as well! Oh...crap... it has gems and similar stuff!

I've done some stuff on the Sonic testnet, including playing silly games at the Arcade. I hope there are points, gems, donuts, or whatever allocated for that! Am I ready for another points based airdrop? Not really!

image.png

What about Sonic Gems? They are developer-focused airdrop points, introduced as a groundbreaking incentive mechanism for developers within the Sonic ecosystem. Gems will reward apps for driving user engagement and innovation based on their performance on Sonic, which can be redeemed for $S tokens.

The apps can then distribute the tokens as rewards to their users. This system empowers apps to kickstart growth and maintain long-term user activity by encouraging consistent interaction and participation. Wait a minute... is not the same thing as the Blast Gold?

Both Sonic Points and Gems are distributed across multiple seasons, ensuring a sustainable and dynamic rewards structure that continuously incentivizes active involvement. The first season ends in the summer, and more details will be shared soon. Until then... I staked my $S to a validator and currently earning 11.02% APR on my ten tokens! LFG!

Quick recap about an airdrop that could be quite juicy.... there are ~200 million $S allocated and at the current value this is huge! Head to my.soniclabs, add my code (P4K64Y) or not, but don't miss on this opportunity!

Sonic Points are user-focused airdrop points that can be earned as part of the airdrop! The system is designed to reward meaningful user engagement within the Sonic ecosystem, these points incentivize a wide range of activities, such as early adoption, long-term loyalty, asset ownership, and active participation with apps across the platform.

I had a head start, doing some stuff on the Arcade and having decent transaction history on Fantom. The Arcade points are not added yet and not sure if transactions on the old chain will count, but I am ready to hustle! Having 16 points so far but things will change... soon!

Sometimes I really really HATE Ethereum. Why do I need ETH to pay for gas fees to convert Fantom to Sonic. I mean I know why but it's so annoying. Let me pay gas fees in Fantom ugh
