Good evening Sloths! Tipping token research phase 1!

avatar

Today has been a sloth day indeed! I think the 2 'long' walks I've had this week have finally caught up with me, body aches, mind aches, sloth aches! However, the show much go on! There are only 2 days left to meet my posting goal for the month!

Now, I might use this post as an excuse to try out some 'research' for my upcoming series of posts, I mentioned I want to do more tutorials and information posts, from communities to tokens and tags! And that of course means covering those 'tipping tokens'. Now, I did see a post the other day complaining about the 'mess' these tokens leave in their wake! And, having added one to our own community, I partially agree!

I would love to see the badge idea come to fruition, seems like a great way to provide more information on Hive communities without the spam!

We use the !SLOTH command as a way to drop some sloth.buzz info, without having to drop the sloth.buzz info as a comment, it also sends a little 0.01 slothbuzz tip to the author giving them a little buzz to enjoy! The comment in itself is small and mundane, however, if combined with other tip commands, you can easily spam an excessive amount of comments onto a post. Removing the 'human aspect' that Hive strives for!

We've had a limit on the number of tags that people can use alongside the !sloth command (max 2 'other' tips), this means if they have 4 or more commands, the sloth bot won't fire. As mentioned, this is to allow the sloth command to stand out and inform people of 'sloth.buzz', not to be used as a general tip command.

We also have limits based on the amount of slothbuzz staked, to ensure no one can 'spam' the tips and circle jerk the token with their friends and alt accounts! Some key methods to try to slow the amount of 'spam' going around Hive!

With that in mind.. I'd like your help, now, normally I wouldn't ask for tokens/tips or even likes! I do on occasion ask for comments, but that's more so I know people are reading my posts, otherwise, what's the point of posting? Just to farm some rewards and move on with your day? This doesn't feel like the Hive spirit.

However, today I am asking you to give me a token command tip (Or better yet, direct link to the information about said commands!)...this is for research for my upcoming articles, so the more information I can get the better! If you know the creators of these tokens or have a link to more information about them, I'd love for you to drop that also! We all know that Hive has a 7-day memory, so anything posted before that is lost in the abyss forever!

PIZZA, LUV, WINE, BEER, PGM, BBH, KING, WEED, LOLZ, MEME, GIF, ALIVE, PIMP, CTP, HBITS, LOH,

I think that's all the 'tipping tokens', I'm asking that you drop me a comment with any of the above you use/follow/know of, let me see the bot response, and hopefully find out some more information about them. If you see someone else has already used one, feel free to use another, I'm not looking to 'farm' rewards. I will start digging into other comments/posts to try to locate these anyways but if I have them all listed here it makes it easier to begin researching...

I know how the PIMP, PIZZA and ALIVE bots work if I'm honest, and those are the most 'valuable' in the list (I think? please prove me wrong!) Except for the sloth one of course! I think that's the most 'expensive' token on the list! So feel free to skip those and use some of the other less-known ones!

I've dropped tags on this post that relate to the bots/communities, hopefully, at least one person from each community sees this post and can direct me towards some more information that I can share in my upcoming tutorial series! Until then,

Sloth out!

How many slothbuzz do you need to have to use the sloth tip command ?
Also, heres a new one not on your list that I noticed recently:
!HUG
There is very little info on it apart from what is listed againt the @hug.bot account:
"Everyone deserves a hug! One free HUG per day. Got 1 HUG already? Hug twice per day. Got 10 HUG in wallet? Hug one more time. No more than two additional commands in the same comment allowed."
https://peakd.com/@hug.bot
I quite like the idea of it !

Dear @slothlydoesit, you just got hugged.
I sent 1.0 HUG on behalf of @hoosie.

1 slothbuzz gets you 1 call.
Forgot to add sloth and hug to the list, doh! Thanks!

!LOLZ
Do you get more sloth calls if you have more slothbuzz ? Or is it a max of one per day ? It appears some people can make more than one per day.
Also, I've noticed some !VSC calls recently - I know very little about it though and am sure this one wont work !

SORRY! You don't have enough VSC to give. You must have at least 50 VSC in your wallet. If you wish to have VSC to reward your favorite authors, please go to: VSC MARKET

Yes, I believe 2 for 5, 3 for 10…maybe more, I should really know these off hand, but they changed with the recent bot update and I forgot to double check! Will get the info sorted for upcoming posts! Main aim is to use as curation, get more people aware of sloth.buzz.

Oh nice, hadn’t seen that one before, another to look into!

Yes I was having a rant on this very same topic. Fully support this. Have some !WINE and why not some !PIZZA. 😃

I can see why people are getting annoyed with the numerous different bots, some seem to have little to no usecase/value other than spamming a comment. Would be great to see some changes being made either by platforms or wider Hive.

I reckon the issue is that the "bot" itself is deciding if to leave a comment and how it does it. In this little test you can see that Pizza did a better job than wine, as it combined the two tips. So in my view the solution would also need working with the bots themselves to align. But I agree, that a solution at platform (ecency/peak) or at hive chain itself would be way better.

Yes, creating uniformity across bots will be a challenge in itself. It would be great if the devs could combine forces to make the bots function better together! I know our dev is already looking at soloutions. Pizza's work around is great! Hopefully more bots can use this code to 'tidy' things up. I do think it's going to be either one of the platforms, or a 3rd party app to show all tipping tokens/create a badge/icon instead of a comment.

I know the bots 'could' turn off comment replies, but then how would users know they were working...I think only CTP does this (hence I'm looking to test all, without spamming myself too much!)

No, fully agree. The tip token badge needs to be visible. That advert is important but needs to be done nicely. With just a little focus UI/UX and community push, all's possible. Have a little more !PIZZA? Does it allow a double tip? 😃

It would appear it does, and wraps it neatly in the same comment with a x2! Interesting! I think Posh does similar come to think of it...seems like the right next stage for the tipping bot commands.

!PIZZA lets see if we can confuse it! All in the name of research!

Am impressed. It still worked. That's pretty neat actually

It sure is, especially since it also tidies the message to avoid the double/triple pings per user, only the lastest tags are used! Nice!

Aha. Initially I thought that's a bug as it removed the @ tag, but your right, that removes the ping.

Actually , one last comment. I never got a ping from the Pizza bot. (Neither when giving nor when receiving) One more thing for your research.

Well, I guess your tipping feature "works" in the sense that I noticed a new-to-me token in my Hive-Engine wallet, which took me on a very slow journey to figure out where it came from... and now I'm actually here, on your front end, typing these words.

I've self-identified as a "Creative Slacker" for a couple of decades... wonder if that's considered "slothly?"

Well, I'm glad you found us! I'd call that a success on the token tipping front! Welcome aboard the buzz train, all be it, very slothly for us all!

We're glad to have some more Slackers, especially of the creative kind, it seems to be the general theme of sloth!

I agree that we need to reduce the bot comments. I have been thinking and I find the pizza bot solution very elegant. Keeps people informed while reducing the comment amount to a minimum. I will be working on getting that into the hug bot asap.

Another idea for discussion: What if the bot in question (let's call it hug.bot) would create a daily post on its own blog and whenever it is called creates a comment to its own posting tagging the two involved (those calling the bot and those receiving the token).
That way the initial post that a human commented on stays clean but those involved in the tipping action get their notice of success (or failure if the conditions are not met).

Oh, a post for 'all' tips of the day could be a great solution to minimising the Spam also! Would give users somewhere on hive to check their current tipping amounts/confirm they've triggers and minimise the spam from so many comments! Great idea! Hopefully some of the hive devs can put their heads together and bring some of these ideas together! I still think a solution will come from one of the hosting platforms to 'tidy' up their front ends! Would be great to see badges or something rolled out across hive!

Good luck on your discovery! Here's some 'test' tips, I don't think we have enough of anything to fire any of them...

!LUV !PIMP !HBITS !WEED !LOLZ

hopefully, they allow you to do some more research at least! good luck sloth.
